L'ensemble des têtes ainsi constitué se caractérise par une alimentation commune en encre d'impression et par une commande multiplexée quant au déclenchement du jet d'encre, le déplacement étant beaucoup plus limité que dans le cas d'une tête conventionnelle. n est envisageable d'effectuer ce déclenchement grâce à un système oscillant.
