Abstract

The dilator is in the form of an inflatable ring, circular, oval or elliptical in shape, equipped with projections which are also inflatable and hold it in position inside the cavity of the organ being dilated. The dilator is made from a biocompatible material, especially latex, teflon or a polymer, and its inflation can be controlled by a valve inside or outside the body, e.g. using a gas which is employed in coelio-surgery. After use, the dilator is deflated and withdrawn from the body.
