Abstract

The system uses an optical bar code reader(1) which reads bar-codes on products to be identified. The data is sent either by suitable means between an interface unit(4) and a terminal(2) or to a remote system operating via infra-red, electro-magnetic or optical systems to a central computer(3) which is controlled by a central server(6). The server is used to compile, the alphanumeric data in the computer(3), into a series of visual, musical or voice audio messages which will be sent to monitors or terminals in contact with the final user.
