Abstract

The implant control unit (1) includes a source of electrical energy (14), electronic circuits (11) and a transmitting antenna (10). The electronic circuits (11) include an oscillator and an amplifier to supply power to the transmitting antenna (10). The implant in the patient's body has a receiving antenna with a tuning unit such as a variable capacitor adjusted to the transmitter oscillator. The energy received is rectified and fed to the implant. In operation it is only necessary to place the transmitting unit (1) close to the patient's implant and start the oscillator. ADVANTAGE - Energy may be conveyed to implant in patient without physical connection.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for controlling an artificial organ implanted in the human body and requiring for its operation a supply of electrical energy.

To remedy the alterations or loss of control of an organ, one can replace this deficient organ, or add an artificial organ to it.

Currently these artificial organs operate, for the most part, mechanically or hydraulically, in particular with regard to artificial sphincters, but these devices have the drawback of requiring connection means between the organ concerned and its control means, which is a cause discomfort and discomfort for the patient.

On the other hand, it is difficult to conceive an artificial organ operating electrically connected to an extracorporeal generator by means of electric wires passing through the skin.

The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback by proposing a device for controlling an artificial organ requiring an electrical energy supply, said device having the advantage of not requiring a physical connection between said organ and the outside. of the organization.

The device which is the subject of the invention makes it possible to transmit through the skin, from the outside to the inside of the organism, energy carried by waves.

To this end, the device according to the invention comprises, on the one hand, an extracorporeal control device with manual control or with control managed by a microprocessor, comprising a source of electrical energy, an oscillator, an amplifier and a transmitting antenna, and on the other hand an intra-body energy sensor comprising a receiving antenna, a device for tuning the wave produced by the transmitter and a rectifying assembly connected to the artificial organ.

The electrical source used in the extracorporeal control device can for example be a battery, a battery or an accumulator.

The device for tuning the produced wave implemented in the intra-body energy sensor can for example be an adjustable capacitor making it possible to select the emitted wave so that no parasitic wave inadvertently activates the artificial organ. .

So when the artificial organ has to come into action, it suffices to approach the control unit of the skin near the receiving antenna of the intra-body energy sensor, to activate it in order to send waves to through the skin, waves which are captured and transformed into the electrical energy necessary for the functioning of said artificial organ.

The waves used in the device according to the invention can be any waves capable of transporting energy, such as magnetic waves, or electromagnetic waves (B.F., H.F., U.H.F., microwave, radar).

The advantages and characteristics of the present invention will emerge more clearly from the description which follows and which refers to the appended drawing, which represents a non-limiting embodiment thereof.

To activate the artificial organ, the user approaches the housing 1 of the skin, so that the transmitting antenna 10 is close to the receiving antenna 21, then presses the button 15, maintaining the pressure the time required for activation.

The waves emitted through the skin by the antenna 10 and received by the antenna 21 are transformed into electrical energy directed towards the artificial organ.

It goes without saying that the present invention cannot be limited to the preceding description of one of its embodiments, capable of undergoing a certain number of modifications without departing from the scope of the invention.
