Description

The present invention relates to a method and an installation for the automatic regulation of the extraction, from enclosures containing them, of products or materials, granular or powdery.

To regulate the weight flow of granular or powdery products or materials from enclosures, in particular from storage enclosures containing them, systems or devices are conventionally used which measure a pressure exerted on a plate placed on the path d flow of product. By calibration for a given product, it is possible to know with sufficient accuracy, the weight flow of the product. The forces exerted on the plate are measured by conventional mechanical systems, involving either the displacement of a weight or the tension of a spring, or by any other mechanical means.

These systems allow, of course, to effectively regulate the control of the outlet valve but, on the one hand, this adjustment is valid only on a case-by-case basis; and on the other hand, they are difficult to install remote control.

The method according to the invention makes it possible to eliminate these drawbacks.

The method according to the invention is essentially characterized in that the measurement of the forces exerted on the plate encountered by the product while flowing is carried out by means of sensors advantageously constituted by strain gauges which make it possible to measure them directly and which are linked to a data processing system which records all of this data and, as a function of the latter, acts directly on the control means or means for controlling the movements of the shutter of the outlet through which the product flows .

The process according to the invention can be implemented in very different ways.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the product extracted by gravity from a hopper falls on an inclined plate. This plate is mounted, at its upper end, on a horizontal axis and rests, at its lower part on a strain gauge. The measurement of the variation of the forces exerted on the strain gauge, reflects the variation of the torque exerted on the plate around its axis. This variation is characteristic of the weight flow for a given product. The calibration of the device makes it possible to establish, for a given product, the correspondence curve between the variation in measured forces and the weight flow rate of product.

The inclination of the plate is calculated according to the nature of the product. In the particular case of hard and dry granular products, the grains strike the surface of the plate and rebound to continue their descent to their intended destination.

Such an embodiment is described below, with reference to the single figure of the attached drawing, it being observed that this is only an example and that all other provisions could be adopted without departing from the scope of the 'invention.

The grains or other products stored in a hopper flow by gravity to the base of the hopper. The flow rate of the product is regulated by any suitable means such as a valve b controlled by any suitable means such as servo motor or pneumatic cylinder c.

A sa partie inférieure la plaque d est au contact d'une jauge de contrainte f portée par un support fixe h.The product flow released by the valve strikes an inclined plate d held at its upper part by any suitable means such as a knife or a horizontal axis g. At its lower part, the plate d is in contact with a strain gauge f carried by a fixed support h.

The force exerted on the plate by the flow of the product is measured by the force exerted on the strain gauge f. The correspondence between the measured force and the product flow depends, among other things on the position of the gauge, the nature of the product, the height of fall and the slope of the plate.

The electronic measurement of the changes in the forces exerted on the gauge is transmitted by a line to a central data processing system whose role is to store and process the information resulting from these measurements. From the calibration curves established for the product in question, it is possible at any time to know the weight flow rate of the product with good precision.

The data processing system is connected, by line k, to the means such as actuator c of the hatch b so as to control in the opening or closing direction the movements imparted by the actuator to this valve or hatch .

The same system, or any other similar means, is supplied in such a way as to bring together all of the information relating to one or more weight flow control systems and placed in a unit making it possible to control the metering systems remotely from a central command post.

Of course the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown but can give rise to numerous variants without departing from its scope.
