Abstract

Particulate packing matls. for stuffing upholstery cushions are enclosed in one or more ancillary covers made of flexible plastic film having integral vents to allow air to be expelled from or drawn into the subsidiary covers. Inhibits saturation of packing made of e.g. chopped plastic foam if the outer cover is soaked, simplifies removal and subsequent replacement of the packing if the external cover required to be washed or dried. Pref. the shape and capacity of the ancillary covers is such that a finite number of such covers fit neatly within one main cover for e.g. a seat headrest/back/squab. The integral vents in the ancillary covers may be simple slits or of more complex patterns, e.g. two or more slits forming discontinuous segments of a common circular arc.
