Abstract

The case is used for holding diamonds or other precious stones during handling and inspection, to prevent theft or replacement with a counterfeit. It comprises a plastics block (1), with an opened topped recess. This opening is enclosed by a transparent cover which permits inspection of the article. Underneath, the block has a tapped hole (3) for a screwed-in insert (4). This latter has a concave top (5), used for holding the precious stone (6). The base of the insert is below that of the block and the hole is sealed with wax.
