Abstract

The three dimensional or stereoscopic image generation is based on the use of a flat screen matrix rather than a conventional C.R.T. The stereoscopic effect is obtained either by polarisation requiring the viewer to use suitable glasses or by the use of cylindrical lenses removing this need. The matrix is based either on a double network of transparent polarising strips with an associated line of vertical bar electrodes controlling the image presented to each eye, or, on a network of cylindrical lenses. Each lens has two electrode bars again defining the image to each eye.
