Abstract

The coffin is of plastic bio-degradable material, and can be made by injection moulding, extrusion, blowing, casting etc. The handles and ornaments are moulded integrally. The cover can be shaped to allow stowage inside for transport when empty, and can be welded in placed to give hermetic sealing if desired. The degree of bio-degradability can be variable. The design reduces both weight and labour, and allows considerably economy in the space required for cemeteries.
