Abstract

L'invention a trait au domaine de la coulée continue des métaux en fusion et notamment de l'acier. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à soumettre le bain métallique, au sein de la lingotière, à un brassage électromagnétique, crée par un champ magnétique non stationnaire, glissant le long des parois de la lingotière dans le sens remontant jusqu'au niveau de la surface libre du métal coulé et à régler l'action de ce champ, en fonction de la profondeur désirée d (en mm) de la localisation des amas d'inclusions non métalliques à l'intérieur des produits coulés, de manière que la densité de force volumique F (en N/m** 3) agissant dans le bain métallique satisfasse à la relation F = 35 d**2 + 260 d. Le procédé selon l'invention permet de repousser à volonté les amas d'inclusions vers le centre des produits coulés jusqu'à des profondeurs prédéterminées, choisies par l'opérateur en fonction des traitements de laminage ultérieurs, de manière à obtenir à coup sûr une bonne qualité de surface de ces produits sans avoir recours à un flammage préalable. L'invention peut être appliquée à tout produit coulé en continu quels que soient sa composition ou son format.The invention relates to the field of the continuous casting of molten metals and in particular of steel.
