Abstract

A radio telephone system comprises a fixed central station with which a mobile station communicates in duplex mode via one of a number of fixed stations at different locations. The fixed station used is that providing best quality communication. Ina radio telephone system the distant fixed station contains a receiver (8) with an IF stage (82). A switching circuit (14) routes the signal for retransmission to the central fixed station when the communication quality is satisfactory. A variable delay circuit (12) is coupled to the IF stage via an amplifier (9) and rectifier circuit (10) driving a switching pulse generator (15). In p signal conditions switching is delayed allowing another station to operate.
