Abstract

A tamper proof tumbler lock has a fixed block (10) with a series of channels (12) holding tumblers (14) held down by springs (16), and a rotating block (40) to receive the key (46) as in a conventional lock. Between these two blocks is also a sleeve (20) with corresponding recesses (22) for balls or short tumblers (24) which replace the conventional lower tumblers. The rotating block also has corresponding recesses (42) for intermediate members (44) to transmit movement as the intermediate tumblers (24) corresponding to the cuts of the teeth on the key. These intermediate members are stacks of discs. The rotating block has a tongue (48) which engages a recess in the sleeve (20) to rotate it.
