Abstract
The frequency generated by the oscillator and the frequency with which it is to be synchronised are divided in the same ratio and are compared in a phase discriminator. The output signal of the phase discriminator is used for oscillator control. The phase difference is adjusted by varying a component in the timing circuit. The system may also operate by varying the oscillator control voltage within the holding range of the phase control loop. A phase detector (2) is connected via a low pass filter (3) to an analogue adder (4). This in turn is connected to a VCO (5), connected to a frequency divider (6). This frequency divides together with a similar frequency divider (2) from the inputs to the phase detector (2).
