Abstract
A glass chimney with a large diameter base and an upper section forming a venturi is mounted over a circular pool of water. The ground surface surrounding the pool and the bed of the pool are painted black. Air flowing in through a slot is heated either directly by the sun's rays or by the heat radiated from the black surfaces. The heated air rises and reaches its greatest velocity at the neck of the venturi where it drives a turbine. The turbine drives the generator and the current is used to produce hydrogen by electrolysis of the water in the pool. The hydrogen is stored in a reservoir.
