Abstract

An excess demand power limiting arrangement for an electricity supply includes a device which measures the total power taken by a set of appliances, heaters, etc., these being divided up into priority and non priority outlets, with a detecting device which compares the total load with a nominal load, and connected to the outlets and also to a set of controllers connected in parallel to the non priority outlets and to a common pulse generator. The non priority outlets are then sequentially switched in and out by relays operating corresponding cut-out switches so that the load is kept below the nominal. The system has a lower response time than that of the initial measuring and cut-off device preceding the detecting device.
