Abstract

The data transmission and reception centre is for two way communication limited by optical visibility, in the millimetric electromagnetic wave-band. The distance between two posts may be about 15 milometers, corresponding to a go and return time of 100 microseconds, and the system uses a 125 microsecond cycle. Data is transmitted in frame form, and the frame generator is used to provide identification of frame transmission and reception, synchronisation being achieved using a comparator measuring the duration of the two phases, producing an error signal if there is any inequality, and correction of the frame duration with itself is a function of the distance between the two stations.
