Abstract

The speech parts (3) of this telephone are connected across the line via two series transistors (13, 61) one of which provides a stable voltage to an oscillator circuit (10) whose rectified output is connected to a MOS clock generator (6). This is controlled by a keyboard dial. During calling, one output (14) of the MOS circuit breaks the series circuit of the speech circuit and another output (8) saturates a shunt transistor (9) across those speech circuits in coincidence with the signalling code. In this way, signalling power is derived from the speech loop current and the circuit is designed to operate on very long lines.
