Abstract
The alternative frequency synthesiser, has a supplementary circuit connected to the output of the basic synthesiser and designed to produce supplementary steps having predetermined values. This supplementary circuit includes means of dividing by a variable whole number (N) the first frequency and adding the supplementary step, as well as means of multiplying the resultant by N. The supplementary circuit is designed to cover at least an octove at its output. Between it and the basic synthesiser is inserted a phase locking loop. The loop has a programmable frequency divider, having a rate equal to a variable power of two. At the output of the supplementary circuit are means which effect a frequency division by the same power.
