Abstract

Logic signals, binary, bipolar or possibly other forms, provide control of frequency excursions to one part in 106. A variable output oscillator working at about 28GHz is controlled by a variable capacitance diode and feeds a modulator also accepting a high stability frequency input. Its output is fed via a variable bandpass filter to a frequency divider providing three division rates, the rate being determined by logic signal inputs. A phase discriminator follows and feeds, via a low pass filter, an analogue-digital converter circuit completing the feedback loop to the main oscillator.
