Abstract

A pellet for the treatment of animals with solids, which is introduced subcutaneously, has a mass of 14-34 mg for 58-96 wt. % active material. The pellet is pref. incorporated in a cartridge, holding 5-6 pellets, the cartridge being made of plastic material and being provided at each end with a closure to prevent free movement of the pellets towards the exterior, but allowing their passage under an ejection force from the implantation device; the bore of the cartridge being slightly larger than the diameter of the pellets. The pellets are pref. for the treatment of animals to be slaughtered and comprise natural hormones favouring the growth and development of protein.
