Abstract

Transparent protective device for the eye is provided in the form of a contact lens with a h older for th progressive distribution of a medicament or drug which is intended to be absorbed by the eye fluid. The lens, preferably of the corneal type, is made of a soft, transparent plastic material, such as P.V.C. It includes an applicator in the form of an annular cavity on the inside of the body of the lens and extending around the latter. It forms a kind of channel with an outlet along its summit and holds the medicament. The latter may be a liquid, a paste or a powder. Protuberances are provided below the channel to allow the eye fluid to collect and mix progressively with the medicament so that it can circulate freely behind the lens. Increased efficiency is obtained in obtaining the desired therapeutic and analgesic effects. The lens is cheap and can be thrown away after a short period of use.
