Abstract

Although it applies mostly to the treatment of vertebral fractures, the system may be used in any other type of vertebral pathology which requires instrumentation in order to stabilize it. It is a preferably transpedicular titanium system with screws of variable diameter and length, with a head, with a screw thread and common smooth bar. These screws allow, with the use of a specific fold-up distractor system which is applied directly to the head, the distraction and lordosis manoeuvres required for reduction of the fractures. Once the lesion has been reduced and stabilized, work may be performed within the neural canal without obstacles. The end is simple, fitting a bar or plate system which stabilizes the lesion by means of a tightening of screws with the specific spanner therefor.
