EL DISPOSITIVO ES UNA BICAPA FORMADA POR UNA LAMINA DE POLIMERO CONDUCTOR, PEGADA A OTRA LAMINA FLEXIBLE. LAMINARY DEVICES CAPABLE OF CAUSING MECHANICAL MOVEMENTS DUE TO CURRENT IN AN ELECTROLYTIC ENVIRONMENT ARE PRESENTED. THE DEVICE IS A TWO-LAYER FORMED OF A CONDUCTIVE POLYMER SHEET, GLUED TO ANOTHER FLEXIBLE SHEET. THE ASSEMBLY FOLDS ON THE CONDUCTIVE POLYMER AND EXTENDS AS IT GOES THROUGH THE CATHODIC OR ANODIC CURRENTS (REDUCING OR OXIDIZING), RESPECTIVELY. THE MOVEMENT PRODUCED BY A CURRENT STEP THAT ORIGINS A CHEMICAL OXIDATION / REDUCTION OF THE NON-CONDUCTIVE POLYMER IS WHAT CONSTITUTES THE ELECTRO-CHEMICAL-MECHANICAL DEVICE. THE OXIDATION, OR SPONTANEOUS REDUCTION OF THE POLYMER, ALSO CAUSES THE CORRESPONDING BICAPA MOVEMENT. THIS DEVICE IS CALLED CHEMIO-MECHANICAL. BOTH CAN BE USED AS MECHANICAL DEVICES OR AS CHEMICAL SENSORS FOR OXIDIZING OR REDUCING MEDIA.
