Abstract

Device for heating gas to a high temperature, supplying the hot gas under pressure continuously by an alternate regeneration system, in a vertical single enclosure (1) packed entirely with thermal masses (3). It is provided with means (5,5',9,9',12,12') for pressurising, on the one hand, the gas to be heated and, on the other hand, the combustion air, as well as means for controlling, on the one hand, the flow rate of gas to be heated, the flow of combustion air and, on the other hand, the flow rate of extracted burnt gases. It may additionally comprise a system for purging the reactor of the residual gases at the time of the reversal and, optionally, a turbine for decompressing (14) the burnt gases. <IMAGE>
