Description

TWO-WAY AUDIO AND VIDEO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM WITH INTERACTIVE DIRECTION
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a two-way audio and video communication system with interactive direction.
Background Art
Various two-way audio and video communication systems are known to be used by several subjects to communicate with each other remotely by means of an audio/video link.
Generally, these types of system make use of a plurality of interaction means which are operationally linked to each other to share audio and video of the users of the respective interaction means.
In particular, each of the interaction means captures images and sounds of a respective user and simultaneously plays back the images and sounds of a user of another interaction means.
This way, at least one couple of users of respective interaction means can communicate verbally with each other by showing themselves to each other.
In particular, the interaction means of known type employ a video capture device, such as e.g. a video camera, and an audio capture device, such as e.g. a microphone, used to capture the image and audio of the user to share with the interlocutor. In addition, in combination with such a video capture device and such an audio capture device, the known interaction means use a video playback device, such as e.g. a screen, and an audio playback device, such as e.g. a speaker, used to play back the image and audio of the interlocutor.
These types of device are often joined into a single computer device, such as e.g. a personal computer, a smart-phone, a tablet and the like.
This way, with a single device, several users can be put in audio video communication with each other in an easy, practical and fast manner.
This type of systems does however have some drawbacks related to the flexibility of use of the interaction means.
In fact, in addition to the need to show oneself to one’s interlocutor during the conversation, the need is particularly felt to show to the same interlocutor additional images, such as e.g. the space surrounding the user and/or the image of another subject, such as an additional interlocutor or an item or product that can be the subject of the conversation.
The interaction means of known type are however provided with a single video capture device. Therefore, the user of the interaction means must necessarily move the video capture device to show to an interlocutor other subjects or other angles of the same subject, having to choose alternatively what to show to one’s own interlocutor.
For example, the user has to choose whether to show him/herself or another subject to his/her interlocutor.
Alternatively, the user can try to capture him/herself and an additional subject in the same frame of the video capture device.
However, this operation is not always practical and prevents the interlocutor from having a clear vision of each subject in the frame, making communication complicated and unpleasant.
Moreover, this operation becomes more and more complex as the number of subjects to be shown to one’s own interlocutor increases.
These drawbacks considerably limit the flexibility of use of the systems of known type, making their use complicated and unpleasant.
Description of the Invention
The main aim of the present invention is to devise a two-way audio and video communication system with interactive direction that allows showing clearly to an interlocutor images of different subjects and/or different points of view of the same subject and/or images provided by external multimedia sources.
A further object of the present invention is to devise a two-way audio and video communication system with interactive direction that allows showing selectively to an interlocutor images of different subjects in a clear way and/or different points of view of the same subject and/or images provided by external multimedia sources.
A further object of the present invention is to devise a two-way audio and video communication system with interactive direction that allows showing simultaneously to an interlocutor images of different subjects in a clear way and/or different points of view of the same subject and/or images provided by external multimedia sources.
Another object of the present invention is to devise a two-way audio and video communication system with interactive direction that allows overcoming the above mentioned drawbacks of the prior art in a simple, rational, easy, effective to use and low cost solution.
The above mentioned objects are achieved by the present two-way audio and video communication system with interactive direction having the characteristics of claim 1.
Brief Description of the Drawings
Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will be more evident from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of a two-way audio and video communication system with interactive direction, illustrated by way of an indicative, yet non-limiting example, in the attached tables of drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic view of the system according to the invention;

In addition, the second interaction means 18 comprise at least a second audio/video playback device 13 configured to play back: the audio and/or video captured by the first interaction means 17; and/or the audio and/or video captured by the same second interaction means.
Advantageously, the first and the second audio/video playback devices 12, 13 are configured to play back the audio and/or video substantially in real time.
In particular, the first audio/video playback device 9 is configured to play back the audio and the video captured by the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22 and at least the video captured by the first interaction means 17, in this case by the video capture appliance 7. This way, the spectator subject 3 can see substantially in real time the image shown to the actor subject 2a, 2b.
In the same way, the second audio/video playback device 13 is configured to play back the audio and the video captured by the first interaction means 17, in this case by the video capture appliance 7 and the audio capture appliance 8, and at least the video captured by the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22.
In particular, the second audio/video playback device 13 is configured to play back at least the image captured by the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22 and simultaneously played back by the first audio/video playback device 9. This way, the actor subject 2a, 2b can see substantially in real time all the images shown to the spectator subject 3.
Preferably, the first and the second audio/video playback devices 9, 13 are of the type of a screen provided with audio speakers, such as e.g. a TV, a PC, a smart-phone, a tablet and the like.
Further embodiments of the system 1 cannot however be ruled out wherein the first and the second audio/video playback devices 9, 13 comprise respective video playback elements and audio playback elements that may be operationally linked to each other.
Furthermore, further embodiments of the system 1 cannot be ruled out, wherein the second interaction means 18 comprise a plurality of second audio/video playback devices 13 arranged at different playback points, e.g. arranged in subenvironments 20 which are different/separated from each other.
Advantageously, the second interaction means 18 comprise at least one computerized device 22 configured to capture at least one multimedia datum. Preferably, the computerized device 22 is provided with at least one of either a video interface or an audio interface, configured to play back corresponding multimedia data from the same computerized device.
This way, the first interaction means 17 play back the multimedia data captured by the computerized device 22 for the spectator subject 3 and at the same time the computerized device 22 plays back the same multimedia data.
Conveniently, the computerized device 22 comprises processing means configured to process the multimedia datum starting from the image captured by the video capture appliance 7.
Advantageously, the second interaction means 18 comprise at least one computerized device 22 provided with processing means, not shown in the figures, of the multimedia datum starting from the image captured by the video capture appliance 7 of the image captured by the video capture appliance 7.
This way, the multimedia datum captured by the computerized device 22 coincides with the processing of the image captured by the video capture appliance 7.
In particular, the first interaction means 17 comprise at least one video capture appliance 7 configured to capture a 3D image of the spectator subject 3 and/or of the second environment 5.
This way, the computerized device 22 captures a multimedia datum in the form of a processed image of the 3D image captured by the video capture appliance 7.
For example, starting from the 3D image of the spectator subject 3 captured by the video capture appliance 7, the processing means are configured to process a 3D image of the spectator subject 3 wherein the latter is dressed differently, e.g. wearing a predefined piece of clothing that may coincide with an inanimate actor subject 2b.
Further embodiments of the system 1 cannot however be ruled out wherein the first interaction means 17 comprise a plurality of video capture appliances 7 configured to capture an image of different spectator subjects 3, such as e.g. an observer and a model, and wherein the processing means are configured to process the multimedia datum starting from the image captured by at least one of the video capture appliances 7, preferably starting from the image of the model.
Preferably, the computerized device 22 is of the type of a computerized electronic device, such as e.g. a PC, a smart-phone, a tablet and the like.
In addition, the second interaction means 18 comprise, preferably, a plurality of computerized devices 22.
Advantageously, the system 1 comprises at least one direction and control device 21 of the system itself configured to selectively activate the playback of the image and/or of the audio captured by each of the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22 by the first interaction means 17.
This way, the direction and control device 21 is configured to simultaneously activate the playback of the captured image and/or audio of two or more capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22.
In particular, this solution allows the actor subject 2a, 2b to decide the number and type of images and/or sounds to be submitted to the spectator subject 3.
With reference to Figure 2, for example, the system 1 allows the actor subject 2a, 2b to activate the dynamic capture group 12 and the video capture group 10 at the same time placed inside the same sub-environment 20.
However, in this configuration, the system 1 allows the animated actor subject 2a, for example, to selectively deactivate the playback of the image captured by the video capture group 10 placed inside the same sub-environment 20 of the dynamic capture group 12 and to activate, at the same time, the playback of the image and/or audio captured by the computerized device 22 and by the video capture group 10 placed inside the other sub-environment 20, as shown in Figure 3.
In other words, the system 1 allows the animated actor subject 2a to play back any image and/or audio captured by the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22 in combination thereof.
This way, the animated actor subject 2a takes on the role of “director” who decides, according to need, the number, type and mode of playback, of images and/or sounds to be submitted to the spectator subject 3.
In addition, the direction and control device 21 is configured to alternatively activate the playback of the image and/or audio captured of each capture group 10, 11, 12, 22.
Preferably, the direction and control device 21 is placed inside the second environment 5.
The direction and control device 21 is operationally connected to each of the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22 and to the second audio/video playback device 13. This way, the direction and control device 21 is used by the actor subject 2a to control the system 1, in this case to show selectively to the spectator subject 3 the image and/or audio captured by each of the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22.
Preferably, the direction and control device 21 is of the type of an electronic control device, such as a PC, a PLC, a microcontroller, a smart-phone, a tablet or the like.
Preferably, the direction and control device 21 comprises at least one portable control appliance, such as e.g. a remote control or the like, used by the animated actor subject 2a, who is thus free to control the system 1 by moving easily inside the second environment 5.
Conveniently, the direction and control device 21 is configured to activate the playback of the images captured by the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22 at least partly superimposed and/or side by side.
In particular, the first interaction means 17, in this case the first audio/video playback device 9, are configured to play back the image and/or audio captured by each capture group 10, 11, 12, 22.
More in detail, the first interaction means 17, in this case the first audio/video playback device 9, are configured to play back both simultaneously and alternately the image and/or the audio captured by the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22. Conveniently, the direction and control device 21 is configured to indicate at least one of: the playback size of the image captured by each of the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22; the playback position of the image captured by each of the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22.
This way, the first interaction means 17, in this case the first audio/video playback device 9, are configured to play back the image captured by the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22 in the corresponding position and/or with the corresponding size indicated by the direction and control device 21.
The terms “size” and “position” mean respectively the size and mutual position of the images played back by the first interaction means 17, in this case by the first audio/video playback device 9, i.e. the mutual size and position of the images played back on a screen.
For example, with particular reference to Figure 2, the direction and control device 21 has activated the simultaneous playback at least of the images captured by the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22, wherein the images captured by the video capture groups 10 are shown superimposed on the images captured by the dynamic capture group 12.
More in detail, the playback size of the images captured by the video capture groups 10 is smaller than the playback size of the images captured by the dynamic capture group 12.
In addition, the playbacks of the images captured by the video capture groups 10 are arranged in opposite positions.
Preferably, the direction and control device 21 coincides with the computerized device 22. Alternative embodiments of the system 1 cannot however be ruled out, wherein the second interaction means 18 comprise a plurality of computerized devices 22, one of which coinciding with the direction and control device 21.
Conveniently, the system 1 comprises a plurality of first interaction means 17 occupying respective first environments 4 and configured to capture the image and/or audio of at least one corresponding spectator subject 3.
In particular, each of the first interaction means 17 is configured to play back the image and/or audio captured by the second interaction means 18.
This way, the first interaction means 17 play back the same image, sounds and/or multimedia data captured by the second interaction means 18 to the respective spectator subjects 3.
In fact, the direction and control device 21 is configured to selectively activate the playback of the image and/or of the audio captured by each of the capture groups 10, 11, 12, 22 by all the first interaction means 17, similarly to what described above.
It has, in practice, been ascertained that the described invention achieves the intended objects.
In particular, the plurality of capture groups allows clearly capturing a plurality of images and/or sounds of one or more subjects. In addition, the control device allows activating the playback of multiple images selectively, simultaneously and/or alternately.
