  1. a) ein Trägersubstrat bestehend aus einer flexiblen Kunststofffolie, die eine laserbeschreibbare schwarze metallische Beschichtung oder ein Trägersubstrat bestehend aus einer flexiblen Kunststofffolie oder einem Papier, das eine Beschichtung aus einem thermoaktivierbaren Farbstoff aufweist
  2. b) ggf. eine Kaschierklebeschicht
  3. c) eine Schicht aus einem flüssigkristallinen Material oder einem Farbkippeffektlack.

Figur 1 a zeigt den Zustand nach der Bedruckung des Sicherheitselements aus Fig. 1.
Im Bereich 8 ist das Sicherheitselement mit einer Bedruckung 12 versehen.
Durch den dabei entstehenden dunklen Hintergrund im Bereich der Bedruckung wird der Farbkippeffekt im Bereich der Bedruckung 12 (Buchstaben H und F) deutlich und brillant erkennbar. Außerhalb des bedruckten Bereichs, also im Bereich 9 ist der Farbkippeffekt nur äußerst schwach bis gar nicht erkennbar.

Auf der diesem Schichtaufbau gegenüberliegenden Oberfläche ist eine Selbstklebebeschichtung 6 aufgebracht.

Claims (7)

  1. Personalizable security element having a carrier substrate and an optically variable layer, characterized in that the security element has the following layer sequence:
    a) a carrier substrate consisting of a flexible polymeric film, which has a laser-writable black metallic coating or a coating of a thermoactivatable dye, or of paper which has a direct thermal coating
    b) optionally a laminating adhesive layer
    c) a layer of a liquid-crystalline material or of a colour flock effect coating material.
  2. Security element according to Claim 1, characterized in that the laser-writable metallic coating consists of non-stoichiometric metal oxides or mixtures of metals and metal oxides.
  3. Security element according to either of Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the layer of a liquid-crystalline material consists of a printing ink which comprises pigments composed of liquid-crystalline material, such as pigments composed of cholesteric liquid crystals or of a mixture of nematic and cholesteric liquid crystals.
  4. Security element according to either of Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the layer of liquid-crystalline material is a polymer layer.
  5. Security element according to either of Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the colour flock effect coating material consists of a printing ink which comprises interference pigments.
  6. Method for producing a personalizable security label, characterized by the following method steps:
    a) providing a first carrier substrate composed of a flexible polymeric film which on one surface has a laser-writable black metallic coating, or of a flexible polymeric film or of a paper which has a coating of a thermoactivatable dye
    b) providing a second carrier substrate composed of a flexible polymeric film
    c) applying a layer of liquid-crystalline material to the second carrier substrate
    d) optionally applying a laminating adhesive layer to the layer of liquid-crystalline material
    e) laminating the layer construction of the first carrier substrate to the layer present on the second carrier substrate,
    f) removing the second carrier substrate
    g) printing the security element by a direct thermal process, thereby visualizing the colour flock effect of the layer of liquid-crystalline material in the region of the printing,
    or
    b1) applying a colour flock effect coating layer to the second carrier substrate
    c1) optionally applying a laminating adhesive layer to the colour flock effect coating layer
    d1) laminating the layer construction of the first carrier substrate to the layer present on the second carrier substrate,
    e1) removing the second carrier substrate
    f1) writing the security element with a laser beam, thereby extinguishing the colour flock effect of the colour flock effect coating layer in the region of printing.
