The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a traffic management system of the type mentioned at the beginning with which a road user moving in the traffic network can be supplied directly and specifically with current information messages.
The object is achieved according to the invention by a generic traffic management system with the features specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1. Accordingly, the traffic management system comprises a terminal device that can be carried by a road user to receive and output the information message. As a recipient of information, the road user carries a mobile terminal device, in particular a so-called smartphone or vehicle on-board device, with which an associated application program for receiving and outputting information messages can be executed. The increasing availability of smartphones is used in an advantageous manner for a wide distribution of information messages. The traffic management system also includes data transmission means for transmitting the information message from the traffic management center to the terminal. In addition, the means for the central generation of an information message for road users are also designed for the geographical location of the information message by assigning a location identifier for the purpose-oriented transmission and / or output of the located information message. The location identifier represents a location or section of the traffic network relating to the information message. The data transmission means have a plurality of distribution devices strategically arranged in the city's street network, which are connected to the traffic management center for wired and / or wireless data transmission and each comprise a transmission unit for the wireless transmission of information messages to end devices within a local transmission area, an information message based on the latter Location identifier can be specifically transferred to one or more distribution devices. The distribution devices are arranged on the road side in the road network at locations relevant to traffic. The transmission units have a local transmission area with a range between 50 m and 300 m and are designed as WLAN transmitters.
The core of the traffic management system according to the invention lies in a locally selected, targeted transmission of information directly to the road user in moving traffic, for example in the vehicle. The proposed traffic management system encompasses the entire process chain of data entry, data processing, data transmission and data output and thus represents an integrated element of the traffic management system. A targeted transmission of information messages to the various distribution facilities takes into account the respective network sections on which an urban focus has an impact. In this way, the information is reduced according to its geographic relevance. The terminal and the application program executable on it are designed to receive information messages, to filter them according to personal preferences and directions of movement and to acoustically and / or optically output the information message. With a WLAN solution, there are no communication costs and no internet connection is required.
In an advantageous embodiment of the traffic management system according to the invention, the generating means have a manual input interface for an operator for editing an information message and for assigning the location identifier. An editorial workstation in the traffic management center is used to generate and geographically locate the information message, for example as free text. The free supply of information enables great flexibility and greater detail than known TMC messages or messages on dynamic information boards. In addition to the text message, the transmission of map representations and graphically prepared content are also possible, which can be called up in addition to an acoustic output.
In a preferred embodiment of the traffic management system according to the invention, the generating means are designed to automatically generate and locate an information message depending on a traffic situation currently recorded in the traffic network. In the strategy module of the traffic management center, information can be embedded in largely automated message management, including the assignment of special message content to the various locations or network sections. In the case of recurring events, predefined, situation-dependent information messages can be pre-supplied in the strategy module, so that their automated activation is possible and the operator is relieved during operation.
In an alternative preferred embodiment of the traffic management system according to the invention, the data transmission means have a central interface to the Internet, the terminal comprising a mobile interface to the Internet, position determining means for determining the terminal position in the traffic network and filter means for the targeted output of a received information message based on its location identifier and direction of movement. Here, the traffic management center provides information messages via the Internet, which are provided with a spatial area of validity. Information messages via mobile radio are queried via the application program running on the terminal. The relevant information messages are selected for the road user on the basis of the GPS position of the terminal using filter means in the terminal. These filter functions enable road users to further filter the information messages according to their own preferences, for example no information about the city center or no information about a specific event.
