  • Figure 3 – is the view of the knob and the indicator showing the last applied value in an embodiment of the present invention.
  • Figure 4 – is the view of the knob and the indicator showing the last applied value and the amount of changes in increasing direction in another embodiment of the present invention.
  • Figure 5 – is the view of the knob and the indicator showing the last applied value and the amount of changes in decreasing direction in another embodiment of the present invention.
  • The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
    1. Electric appliance
    2. Knob
    3. Indicator
    4. Control unit
  • The electric appliance (1) of the present invention comprises at least one knob (2) that is used for adjusting the parameters (P1, P2, P3, P4, …) determined according to the user preference, a luminous indicator (3) that provides the value of the parameter (P1, P2, P3, P4, …) adjusted by means of the knob (2) to be displayed and a control unit (4) that provides the amount of change (P1 ) with respect to the last applied value (P1U) of the respective parameter (P1) to be illuminated on the indicator (3) in visually discernible manner and differently when an adjustment is performed in a parameter (P1) using the knob (2).
  • The values (P1U, P2U, P3U, P4U, …) applied at that moment of the parameters (P1, P2, P3, P4, …) adjusted by the user during the operation of the electric appliance (1) are displayed on the indicator (3). When the user increases a parameter (P1) by triggering the knob (2), the amount of change (P1 ) is illuminated in visually discernible manner with respect to the last applied value (P1U) by means of the indicator (3). Thus, the user can easily understand how much the respective parameter (P1) is increased with respect to the last applied value (P1U). Similarly, when the user decreases the respective parameter (P1), the amount of decrease (P1 ) is illuminated in visually discernible manner with respect to the last applied value (P1U) by the indicator (3). Thus, the user can easily understand how much the respective parameter (P1) is decreased with respect to the last applied value (P1U).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (4) provides to be illuminated on the indicator (3) so as to be visually different from each other, the amount of change (P1 +) in the increasing direction of the parameter (P1) to be adjusted, the last applied value (P1U) and the amount of change in decreasing direction (P1 -) of the parameter (P1) to be adjusted.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (4) provides the amount of change (P1 ) in the parameter (P1) to be adjusted to be illuminated on the indicator (3) in a different color than that of the last applied value (P1U). In other words, while the last applied value (P1U) of the parameter (P1) being adjusted is illuminated in a first color (C1) on the indicator (3), the amount of change (P1 ) is displayed in another color (C2, C3, …). Thus, the user is provided to detect the amount of change (P1 ) easily.
  • In a version of this embodiment, the control unit (4) displays on the indicator (3) the amount corresponding to last applied value (P1U) in white color, the amount of change in the increasing direction (P1 +) in green color and the amount of change in the decreasing direction (P1 -) in red color. Thus, the user can conveniently detect the amount and type of change by means of easily correlating the green and red colors with the concepts of increase and decrease.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (4) provides the amount of change (P1 ) in the parameter (P1) to be adjusted to be illuminated on the indicator (3) so as to be in a different intensity of light with respect to the intensity of light in which the last applied value (P1U) is illuminated.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the knob (2) is of rotatable type and the indicator (3) is in form of a ring around the knob (2). The control unit (4) displays the last applied value (P1U) of the parameter (P1) by illuminating the portion of the indicator (3) corresponding to this value (P1U).
  • In this embodiment, when the user increases the parameter (P1), the control unit (4) displays the amount of change in the increasing direction (P1 +) by illuminating the portion of the indicator (3) corresponding to this value (P1 +) so as to be visually discernible from the portion corresponding to the last applied value (P1U) of the parameter (P1). In this situation, the newly adjusted value (P1N) of the parameter (P1) is displayed on the indicator (3) as the total of the last applied value (P1U) of the parameter (P1) and the amount of change in the increasing direction (P1 +). Similarly, when the user decreases the parameter (P1), the control unit (4) changes the portion corresponding to the decrease amount (P1 -) on the portion of the indicator (3) illuminated to display the last applied value (P1U) of the parameter (P1) to be visually discernible. In this situation, the last applied value (P1U) of the parameter (P1) is displayed on the indicator (3) as the total of the recently adjusted value (P1N) of the parameter (P1) and the amount of change in the decreasing direction (P1 -).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the knob (2) is of slidable type and the indicator (3) is in form of a rod on the knob (2). The control unit (4) displays the last applied value (P1U) of the parameter (P1) by illuminating the portion of the indicator (3) corresponding to this value (P1U).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the knob (2) is of touch type. In the derivative of this embodiment, the knob (2) is of capacitive type. Thus, the knob (2) is provided to be controlled easily.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the electric appliance (1) is a music player such as a radio, cassette player, cd-player, and the parameter (P1) adjusted by the user by means of the knob (2) is the sound level.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the electric appliance (1) is a cooking device such as cooktop, oven, microwave, and the parameter (P1) adjusted by the user by means of the knob (2) is the temperature.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the electric appliance (1) is a radio, and the parameter (P1) adjusted by the user by means of the knob (2) is the frequency.
  • By means of the present invention, the user is provided to easily understand the amount of change (P1 ) while making adjustments in the parameters (P1, P2, P3, P4, …) that are adjusted by using the knob (2).
  • It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited by the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.
