Abstract

In a method for establishing a data path for a mobile entity (110) in a communication network having one or more forwarding entities (151, 152) for providing data packets for a data path and a plurality of mobility binding entities (161, 162) for forwarding data packets on the data path, data traffic assigned to the mobile entity (110) is received by one forwarding entity (151, 152) of one or more forwarding entities (151, 152). A binding information assigned to the mobile entity (110) is requested by a request of the one forwarding entity (151, 2). In response to receiving the request of the one forwarding entity (151, 152), a mobility binding entity (161, 162) of the plurality of mobility binding entities (161, 62) is allocated. The requested binding information is provided including an identity of the allocated mobility binding entity (161, 162). The one forwarding 1 entity (151, 152) forwards the data traffic to the allocated mobility binding entity (161, 162) in dependence on the binding information.
