Abstract
A cellular communication apparatus includes radio communication blocks (13, 14) for transmitting/receiving a CDMA signal, a base band modulation/demodulation block (16) for modulating/demodulating a CDMA signal to be transmitted/received up to a transmission signal, and a CPU (17) for controlling transmission/reception of the CDMA signal. When a set channel cannot be captured and the system is lost, capture of the channel is retried. Moreover, when the capture of the set channel is tried a predetermined number of times and an overhead message cannot be acquired, the channel setting is modified. Thus, even when an inappropriate channel is used and the system is lost, it is possible to capture an appropriate channel.
