    5. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the swinging arm (18, 20) articulated to the backrest (3) above the seat part (2) is formed in an arcuate manner, preferably in a sickle-type manner.
    6. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the backrest (3) has a preferably upholstered backrest support (8) which, when the backrest (3) is in an upright position, is spaced apart from the seat part (2) or from a preferably upholstered seat-part support (6) in the direction in which the backrest (3) can be moved with respect to the seat part (2).
    7. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the backrest support (8) is divided transversely and a support part (9) that faces the seat part (2) is mounted such that it can be pivoted about an axis (10) extending in the direction of the division of the backrest support (8).
    8. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the backrest (3) can be moved with respect to the seat part (2) into a lowered position in which, when it is assumed, the backrest (3) and the seat part (2) on the side facing the user lie substantially in a common plane.
    9. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the lowered position of the backrest (3), in which the latter and the seat part (2) lie in a common plane, is defined by means of at least one stop (35, 36), on which the backrest (3) is supported when it assumes the aforementioned position in the direction in which it is lowered with respect to the seat part (2).
    10. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the stop (35, 36) for supporting the backrest (3) is provided on the seat part (2) in the direction in which the said backrest (3) is lowered with respect to the seat part (2).
    11. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the common plane of seat part (2) and lowered backrest (3) is aligned at most horizontally.
    12. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the position of the unit comprising backrest (3) and seat part (2), in particular the alignment of the common plane of lowered backrest (3) and seat part (2), is defined by means of at least one stop (17), which is provided on a subframe (4) of the furniture for sitting and/or lying (1) which supports the seat part (2) and the backrest (3) and on which the unit comprising backrest (3) and seat part (2) can be supported.
    13. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the unit comprising backrest (3) and seat part (2) can be supported on the stop (17) of the subframe (4) via one (18, 20) of the swinging arms (18, 19; 20, 21) of the four-bar linkage in order to define the position of the said unit, in particular to define the alignment of its common plane.
    14. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that an apparatus (17, 43, 63) is provided in order to limit the inclination of the backrest (3) as a function of the inclination of the seat part (2).
    15. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the apparatus (17, 43, 63) for limiting the inclination of the backrest (3) has at least one stop (17, 42, 62) for the backrest (3), which is provided on a subframe (4) of the furniture for sitting and/or lying (1, 41, 61) that supports the seat part (2) and the backrest (3) and the position of which is controlled by means of the seat part (2).
    16. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the stop (42, 62) for limiting the inclination of the backrest (3) is provided on a pivoting arm (45, 66) articulated to the subframe (4) of the furniture for sitting and/or lying (41, 61), and the pivoting arm (45, 66) for controlling the position of the aforementioned stop (42, 62) is connected to the seat part (2) via at least one control arm (46, 67).
    17. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pivoting arm (45) and the control arm (46) for controlling the position of the stop (42) for limiting the inclination of the backrest (3) are formed by scissors linkage arms connected to each other in an articulated manner by a scissors joint (47) and belonging to at least one control scissor linkage (44), one scissor linkage arm being articulated to the subframe (4) of the furniture for sitting and/or lying (41) by its end remote from the scissors joint (47) as a pivoting arm (45), and the other scissor linkage arm being connected to the seat part (2) by its end remote from the scissors joint (47) as a control arm (46).
    18. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pivoting arm (66) and the control arm (67) for controlling the position of the stop (62) for limiting the inclination of the backrest (3) are formed by the lever arms of a two-armed lever (64) connected to the subframe (4) of the furniture for sitting and/or lying (61) via a lever rotary joint (65), one lever arm bearing the aforementioned stop (62) at a distance from the lever rotary joint (65) as a pivoting arm (66), and the other lever arm being supported on the seat part (2) via a control cam (69) at a distance from the lever rotary joint (65) as a control arm (67).
    19. Furniture for sitting and/or lying according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the backrest (3) can be supported on the stop (17, 42, 62) for limiting the inclination via at least one swinging arm (18, 20) belonging to the four-bar linkage.
