Definitions
- the subject of the present invention is a removable inking device for a flexographic printing machine, its embodiment, its cleaning and its use in such a machine.
- Flexographic printing machines and in particular printing stations for these machines include a plate cylinder, a pressure cylinder, a screened cylinder, commonly known as an anilox cylinder by specialists, and an inking device.
- the material to be printed scrolls between the plate cylinder and the pressure cylinder.
- the ink is deposited on the cliché cylinder by the screened cylinder which has previously been inked by the inking device.
- Inking devices generally used in machines for depositing ink on the screened cylinder are constituted by a doctor blade chamber comprising a doctor blade chamber on which are attached two doctor blades which will be brought into contact with the circumference of the screened cylinder.
- the ends of the doctor blade chamber are closed by gaskets.
- the assembly thus formed constitutes in somehow a reservoir in which the ink will be brought, through a inking circuit, by means of a pump.
- the machines referred to here are intended to achieve a quantity of different print jobs and that to do this it will necessary to thoroughly clean all the organs of each of printing stations. This thorough cleaning is relatively easy to perform for organs such as the plate cylinder and the screened cylinder but it is made more difficult with the doctor blade chamber which often has places where ink residue may remain even after intensive cleaning.
- US Patent 4,590,855 relates to a doctor blade chamber in which the doctor blades are attached to the doctor chamber body at the by means of a bar which holds the doctor blade using hexagon head screws.
- the ends of the doctor blade chamber are sealed by a gasket cut according to the diameter of the screened cylinder.
- An identical joint is attached to each end of the doctor blade chamber body using a plate crossed by hexagon head screws ensuring the tightening of all.
- This doctor blade chamber is arranged so that it can pivot from a working position against the screened cylinder to an out of service position in which it becomes relatively easy to replace the doctor blades worn or deteriorated. It also seems obvious that, in this position, a additional operation, such as cleaning, can be realized due to the access to the interior parts of the doctor blade chamber.
- US Patent 5,150,651 describes a doctor blade chamber in which the doctor blades are also attached to the doctor chamber body at the by means of a bar which holds the doctor blade using hexagon head screws.
- these zones are sealed in the doctor blade chamber by seals cut according to the diameter of the screened cylinder and the configuration of the inner part of the doctor blade chamber. These seals, once in the desired position, are held in place by tightening the doctor blades acting on a part of the joint.
- This doctor blade chamber is also arranged so as to ability to pivot from work position against screened cylinder to position out of service in which it becomes relatively easy to replace the blades used or damaged doctor blade, adjust the position of the seals across the width of the doctor blade chamber. It also seems obvious that, in this position, a additional operation, such as cleaning, can be realized due to the access to the interior parts of the doctor blade chamber.
- Patent EP 0 359 959 B1 relates to an inking device with doctor blades with a doctor blade chamber attached so that they can be disassembled, on a cross member extending parallel to the screened cylinder.
- the crosspiece has fasteners to allow mounting and dismounting at least one doctor blade chamber on this crosspiece.
- the doctor blades are fixed to the chamber body with doctor blades in the same way as what has just been described for the two previous patents.
- the set consisting of the cross and of the doctor blade chamber can also be rotated here from a service position to a out of service position allowing the same maintenance operations as those cited above in relation to the two US patents mentioned.
- Patent EP 0 611 649 B1 relates to an inking device in which the doctor blades are held against the doctor chamber body by a clamping member comprising levers controlled by jacks which allow tightening and loosening of the doctor blades.
- the doctor blades are made of a magnetic material, such than a magnet, to temporarily hold the doctor blade against the doctor blade chamber before it is tightened by the clamping device.
- This assembly is, like those described above, pivotally mounted to be able to carry out operations similar to those mentioned above, this in an out of service position.
- the mounting and fixing of the doctor blades is carried out using clamping elements constituted either by screws or by lever devices and cylinders applying their clamping force in a punctual way throughout the doctor blade.
- clamping elements constituted either by screws or by lever devices and cylinders applying their clamping force in a punctual way throughout the doctor blade.
- thorough cleaning inking devices is required for each color change printing stations. Such cleaning is also necessary when replacement of a worn or damaged doctor blade.
- the object of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks aforementioned by proposing a removable inking device comprising a ultra light doctor blade chamber.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic profile view of a station print 1 in which the components of a such station.
- the sheets to be printed 2 are transported so that their bottom surface can be printed without conveyors lower limits the area to be printed.
- means such as as suction conveyors 3 consisting of drive rollers 4 associated with a suction device 5.
- the sheets to be printed 2, transported by suction conveyors 3 are printed by a plate cylinder 6 cooperating with a pressure cylinder 7.
- the plate cylinder 6 is inked by a screened cylinder 8, commonly called “anilox" cylinder by manufacturers of printing machines. Screened cylinder 8 receives ink necessary through a doctor blade chamber 9.
- This doctor blade chamber 9 is generally fixed on a doctor chamber support 10 which can be pivoted, in the direction indicated by arrow 12, around an axis of rotation 11. This pivoting brings the doctor blade chamber 9 into a position horizontal allowing maintenance operations such as the cleaning the doctor blade chamber, replacing worn doctor blades or deteriorated, the change of the end joints and finally the disassembly complete with doctor blade chamber 9, relatively tedious disassembly often requiring the use of tools to loosen the fasteners of the doctor blade chamber 9 of its support 10.

Abstract
Description
The subject of the present invention is a removable inking device for a flexographic printing machine, its embodiment, its cleaning and its use in such a machine.
Flexographic printing machines and in particular printing stations for these machines include a plate cylinder, a pressure cylinder, a screened cylinder, commonly known as an anilox cylinder by specialists, and an inking device. The material to be printed scrolls between the plate cylinder and the pressure cylinder. The ink is deposited on the cliché cylinder by the screened cylinder which has previously been inked by the inking device. To get full color prints, by example, we will use four printing stations each printing one different color.
Inking devices generally used in machines for depositing ink on the screened cylinder are constituted by a doctor blade chamber comprising a doctor blade chamber on which are attached two doctor blades which will be brought into contact with the circumference of the screened cylinder. The ends of the doctor blade chamber are closed by gaskets. The assembly thus formed constitutes in somehow a reservoir in which the ink will be brought, through a inking circuit, by means of a pump. It is obvious that the machines referred to here are intended to achieve a quantity of different print jobs and that to do this it will necessary to thoroughly clean all the organs of each of printing stations. This thorough cleaning is relatively easy to perform for organs such as the plate cylinder and the screened cylinder but it is made more difficult with the doctor blade chamber which often has places where ink residue may remain even after intensive cleaning.
Les brevets US 4,590,855, US 5,150,651, EP 0 359 959 B1 et EP 0 611 649 B1 décrivent chacun des dispositifs d'encrage similaires à celui auquel nous venons de faire référence. US patents 4,590,855, US 5,150,651, EP 0 359 959 B1 and EP 0 611 649 B1 describe each of the inking devices similar to that to which we just made reference.
US Patent 4,590,855 relates to a doctor blade chamber in which the doctor blades are attached to the doctor chamber body at the by means of a bar which holds the doctor blade using hexagon head screws. The ends of the doctor blade chamber are sealed by a gasket cut according to the diameter of the screened cylinder. An identical joint is attached to each end of the doctor blade chamber body using a plate crossed by hexagon head screws ensuring the tightening of all. This doctor blade chamber is arranged so that it can pivot from a working position against the screened cylinder to an out of service position in which it becomes relatively easy to replace the doctor blades worn or deteriorated. It also seems obvious that, in this position, a additional operation, such as cleaning, can be realized due to the access to the interior parts of the doctor blade chamber.
US Patent 5,150,651 describes a doctor blade chamber in which the doctor blades are also attached to the doctor chamber body at the by means of a bar which holds the doctor blade using hexagon head screws. In this execution, we looked for the possibility of being able to deposit the ink on certain transverse areas of the screened cylinder. To this end, these zones are sealed in the doctor blade chamber by seals cut according to the diameter of the screened cylinder and the configuration of the inner part of the doctor blade chamber. These seals, once in the desired position, are held in place by tightening the doctor blades acting on a part of the joint. This doctor blade chamber is also arranged so as to ability to pivot from work position against screened cylinder to position out of service in which it becomes relatively easy to replace the blades used or damaged doctor blade, adjust the position of the seals across the width of the doctor blade chamber. It also seems obvious that, in this position, a additional operation, such as cleaning, can be realized due to the access to the interior parts of the doctor blade chamber.
As we can see, in all the devices that we just described, the mounting and fixing of the doctor blades is carried out using clamping elements constituted either by screws or by lever devices and cylinders applying their clamping force in a punctual way throughout the doctor blade. In one of the examples cited, we tried to improve the contact between the doctor blades and the body of the doctor chamber using a magnetic material for the doctor blades and a ferrous material for the body from the doctor blade chamber. As we have explained, thorough cleaning inking devices is required for each color change printing stations. Such cleaning is also necessary when replacement of a worn or damaged doctor blade.
One of the major drawbacks of devices using organs point tightening lies in the fact that when cleaning the chamber scrapers, there is always ink residue sucked by capillarity between the lower part of the doctor blade and the bearing surface thereof against the body of the doctor blade chamber. This phenomenon is particularly unpleasant when we go from a dark color, black or blue for example, to a light color like yellow. This cleaning fault causes a alteration of the new color that one wishes to use which is not good obviously not admissible.
Another significant drawback is the importance of the time required to exchange a worn or damaged doctor blade, importance of time caused mainly by dismantling and tedious reassembly of the clamping members of the doctor blades have a large number of parts. Finally, the construction of the doctor blades used in known devices is a heavy construction making difficult to handle when it is necessary to remove them from the machine printing, for example during a repair or a thorough cleaning.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks aforementioned by proposing a removable inking device comprising a ultra light doctor blade chamber.
A cet effet le dispositif d'encrage selon l'invention est conforme à ce qu'énonce la revendication 1.For this purpose the inking device according to the invention conforms to this as set out in claim 1.

quelconque. Figure 2 is an elevational view from the rear of a chamber

moletées 23 et 24.Figure 4 is a view along A of Figure 2 in which one

description.Figure 5 is a sectional view along V-V of Figure 2 in

racles 9.Figure 6 is a sectional view along VI-VI of Figure 2 showing
the
dispositif de lavage 80.FIG. 9 shows an
Figure 10 is a general perspective view of the
pneumatiquement par le pupitre 114.Figure 11 is a perspective view of the glue-
des barres 105, 106.Figure 12 is a front view of the front part of the
