Abstract

The mobile telephone connection has a digital cordless system with a mechanism (E1) allowing the use of a mobile phone in a first standard in a private telecommunications network and using a second standard, allowing connection to a private exchange. The radio transmitter-receiver (BTS) functions to the second cordless standard (DE) using an interface (C) which finds the position of the private network with respect to the mobile units and converts the signalling protocol from the first mobile telephone standard to the digital cordless standard.

Description

The invention relates to a device for using GSM radiotelephones in a DECT radiotelephone network. A DECT radiotelephone network is conventionally used to allow the employees of a company to use the services of a private switch, while enjoying a certain mobility on the site of this company. Such a network comprises a private switch, transmission-reception stations called DECT base station, DECT mobile radio terminals, and possibly fixed telephone terminals.

Such a network allows a certain mobility of the employees inside the premises of a site of the company. But some employees have to move outside the company. To be able to be joined almost everywhere, they each carry a GSM radiotelephone terminal with a subscription to use a public GSM network. They are therefore supposed to use at least two different types of terminal depending on whether they are in a company site or not.

The proliferation of terminals for the same employee is not practical, especially because of the proliferation of numbers. In addition, employees are tempted to use only their GSM terminal, although the cost of communications is higher than that of communications via the DECT private network, and although the public GSM network does not provide all the services it can get private switch from a company. On the other hand, users outside a company are tempted to call the employees of this company via their GSM terminals, and not via fixed terminals or DECT, to maximize the chances of joining them. It is therefore desirable that employees of a company can use their GSM terminals via the company's private network.

The object of the invention is to allow the employees of a company to use their GSM terminals in a company at the same cost and with the same services as if they were DECT terminals; and allow outside visitors, duly authorized, to use their GSM terminals as DECT terminals of the company, to access the fixed public network via the private switch of the company, or to be called via the fixed public network.

A second object of the invention is a device making it possible to use mobile radiotelephone terminals operating according to a first standard in a private telecommunication network operating according to a second standard, this network comprising:
  • at least one private switch,
  • mobile radiotelephone terminals operating according to the second standard,

The invention will be better understood and other characteristics will appear with the aid of the description below and accompanying figures:
  • FIG. 1 represents the block diagram of an example of a DECT private network comprising two exemplary embodiments of the device according to the invention.
  • FIG. 2 represents the block diagram of an exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention.

The private network represented in FIG. 1 comprises:
  • a PABX private switch,
  • base stations of DECT type: DBS1, DBS2, DBS3, connected to the private switch PABX,
  • and two devices E1 and E2 according to the invention.

The site of the company in question is further served by the devices E1 and E2 according to the invention, which make it possible to establish radio links compliant with the GSM standard, with conventional GSM terminals GT1, GT2, GT3. The device E1 is connected to the private network by a radio link conforming to the GSM standard, established with a DECT base station, DBS1 for example. The device E2 is connected to the private network by a wired link L. The private switch PABX is connected in particular to a fixed public network PSTN.

Les terminaux GSM peuvent être utilisés :

  • soit de manière classique, c'est à dire communiquer via un réseau public GSM, en conservant tous les services fournis par ce réseau public GSM;
GSM terminals can be used:
  • either conventionally, ie communicate via a public GSM network, retaining all the services provided by the GSM public network;
  • choose the private network, locate in this network, and communicate with the private network, and with the fixed public network PSTN via the private network, which allows them to benefit from all the services of this private network, including: communications other fixed or mobile terminals of the private network, and communications via the PSTN fixed public network. To go through the private network, the user of a GSM terminal must first declare his GSM terminal, once and for all, to the private network, by dialing a number and a particular code on his terminal keyboard. This declaration procedure with the devices E1 and E2 makes it possible to attribute this right of access to a list of users, employees of the company and certain visitors.

  • l'identité internationale d'abonné mobile IMSI (International mobile subscriber identity), et l'identité temporaire correspondante TMSI (Temporary mobile subscriber identity),
Each device E1 and E2 stores, for each of the GSM terminals which are considered as belonging to the private network, ie those belonging to the company and those of the visitors who have been duly declared:
  • the international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) mobile subscriber identity, and the corresponding Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity (TMSI) temporary identity,
  • the DECT identity called International Portable User Identity (IPUI), used in the PABX switch, and the directory number,
  • the IMSI relationship / directory number,
  • the relation IPUI / directory number,
  • and optionally the identity of the company owning the terminal.

  • un dispositif DE relié à cette interface radio DR et imitant n terminaux DECT, n étant le nombre maximal de terminaux GSM devant être desservis par le dispositif E1 ;
  • une station de base GSM, BTS, constituant une interface radio GSM ayant la capacité nécessaire pour communiquer avec n terminaux GSM ;
  • un contrôleur de station de base GSM, BSC, relié à la station de base BTS ;
FIG. 2 represents the block diagram of the exemplary embodiment E1 of the device according to the invention. This exemplary embodiment comprises:
  • a DR radio interface conforming to the DECT standard,
  • a device DE connected to this radio interface DR and imitating n DECT terminals, n being the maximum number of GSM terminals to be served by the device E1;
  • a GSM base station, BTS, constituting a GSM radio interface having the capacity necessary to communicate with n GSM terminals;
  • a GSM base station controller, BSC, connected to the base station BTS;
  • and a conversion device, C, coupling the DE device and the base station controller BSC.

  • procédure de déclaration pour n terminaux GSM, le dispositif C et le dispositif DE se comportant comme n terminaux DECT vis à vis de la station de base DBS1 ;
  • transcodage du code de parole GSM (16 Kb/s) en un code de parole qui est accepté par le commutateur privé PABX (64 Kb/s), et inversement ;
  • conversion du protocole de signalisation CM normalisé par le GSM, en protocole de signalisation DECT/GAP qui est accepté par le commutateur privé PABX, et inversement ;
  • et déclaration des terminaux GSM des visiteurs.
The conversion device C performs the following functions:
  • declaration procedure for n GSM terminals, the device C and the device DE behaving as n DECT terminals with respect to the base station DBS1;
  • transcoding of the GSM speech code (16 Kb / s) into a speech code which is accepted by the private switch PABX (64 Kb / s), and vice versa;
  • conversion of the GSM standardized CM signaling protocol to the DECT / GAP signaling protocol that is accepted by the PABX private switch, and vice versa;
  • and declaration of the GSM terminals of the visitors.

Pendant la procédure de localisation, le dispositif de conversion C ne mémorise rien, il retransmet la requête du terminal au commutateur PABX.During the localization procedure, the conversion device C memorizes nothing, it retransmits the request of the terminal to the PABX switch.

Optionally, the device C makes it possible to encrypt the communications between the GSM terminals: GT1, GT2, GT3, etc., and the device E1, without having the secret encryption algorithm of each terminal. Beforehand, a manual operation consists in providing the SIM card (Subscriber Identity Module) of the GSM terminal with a random number and a secret key to the terminal, in order for it to calculate, by its secret algorithm, a result function of this random number and of this key. The device C stores, for each GSM terminal IMSI identity, the random number, the secret key, and the result. To start the encryption of a communication, the device C sends the terminal this secret key and this random number.

Il échange des trames DECT avec le commutateur PABX, directement sur la liaison filaire L.The device E2 differs from the device E1 only in that it does not comprise a DR radio interface according to the DECT standard. It exchanges DECT frames with the PABX switch, directly on the wired link L.
