Abstract

The device has display points arranged in rows and columns, driven by a controller and monitored for display faults by a monitoring device. The monitoring device has a current detector (S) which can detect the drive current to each display point and which can be associated with the display point by the monitoring device. A current detector can be provided for each row or column. The rows (y) and columns (x) associated with the coordinate node points of the display points (L) to be activated are driven cyclically in multiplex manner at a frequency which enables the light emitting diodes to be activated at a rate above the flicker coalescence frequency.
