Description

The invention relates to a method and devices for identifying Broadcasts.

  • sonstige Informationen (z.B. Bearbeitungsinformationen) enthalten.
When processing shipments automatically, information is applied to the shipment by the processing machine. This can be done by printing a code, eg bar code, or by printing plain text. This information can
  • Contain destination information, ie information about the consignee that is used for sorting,
  • Contain markings in the form of identification codes (ID code) for later recognition in offline processing,
  • Contain information about the sender,
  • contain other information (e.g. processing information).

They are applied simultaneously or at different times.

The space available for the information provided by the processing machine, in particular for the ID code, is limited due to the size of the shipment and is often not sufficient. The number of digits in the ID code depends on the number of items to be distinguished over a certain period of time. If, for example, a clear distinction is to be made between 100 million consignments per day over a period of 100 days (10 8 * 10 2 = 10 10 ), a 10-digit decimal number must be applied as the ID code.
In addition, a 5-digit postcode is to be printed as destination information, so that a total of 15 decimal places must be applied. Both pieces of information can be applied together in one machine run, or separately and in succession in two machine runs.

Solutions to identify shipments in the previous scope, which none provide sufficient space for the codes to be printed are not known become.

A method is described in DE-A-4 000 603 with the shipments measured exclusively on the basis Consignment properties can be recognized. Here are the shipments in a buffer of a sorting machine promoted and identified when being carried out. Since it is each is a small consignment, are to the Measurement and evaluation requirements can be met with reasonable effort Made demands. For a very large shipment quantity this solution is not feasible with reasonable effort.

The invention specified in independent claims 1 and 5 is based on the problem of reducing the number of digits of the ID code compared to the prior art and at the same time maintaining the scope of the items to be identified in terms of quantity and time.

There is the task, as stated in the introduction to the description, 100 million Clearly differentiate shipments over 100 days. Because the space for an ID code with 10 decimal places is not sufficient, a 9-digit ID code is used. So that 100 million shipments can be clearly distinguished during generation of the 9-digit ID code includes the measured shipment length. Are the Consignment lengths can be divided into 100 classes by measurement, within each Class 10 million shipments can be distinguished. Does not apply to any of these classes than 10% of the total shipment volume, then the 100 million shipments clearly differentiated over 100 days. Accordingly, with others Process measurable shipment properties, e.g. with shipment height, -thick, geometric shape, weight, color, surface texture, gloss, Stiffness, presence of postage stamps, location of address blocks, structures on the scanned shipment surfaces, inner structures of the lettering.

If there is only space for a 7-digit ID code on the items, the Generation of the 7-digit ID code, the 5-digit that is also to be printed Postcode included. This means that for every 5-digit postcode 100,000 consignments can be clearly distinguished over 100 days. Accounts for one individual 5-digit postcode no more than 1% of the total shipment volume, then a total of 100 million shipments over 100 days are unique distinguishable.

If the ID code is applied in a first machine run and the target information in the form of the zip code in a second machine run, it will generally be sufficient to use a shorter ID code for the second machine run, which is only valid for one day, for example is.
This is useful if the second machine run takes place on the same day. A long-term valid code is only required for later purposes (e.g. tracking of consignments for quality assurance or for complaint services).

In this case it is advisable to print only 8 decimal places of ID information in the first machine run. The 5-digit target information is then applied in the second machine run and supplemented by one decimal place additional ID information, so that a total of 14 decimal places are printed. The likelihood that a single shipment in postcode and 8-digit ID information matches a shipment from the previous day is 10 3 * 10 -8 = 0.00001 (with all postcodes evenly occupied with 10 3 shipments per day). The probability that this will be true for any of the past 100 days is 100 * 0.00001 = 0.001. So there is one out of 1,000 shipments that cannot be clearly identified over 100 days. If this case is recognized by comparison with the data stocks, a distinction is made about the said additional location ID information.

In the block diagram of FIG. 1, the programs 120 of the program stream pass 110 a measuring and / or scanning device 160 for detecting the selected one physical shipment properties. Based on these measurements, as well Information about other shipment indicators 115, such as the still destination code to be applied, the shipment is assigned by an assignment block 130 differentiable class assigned. In a subsequent code generator 140 An ID code is generated for each class, which is then printed out by a code printer 150 Shipment surface is applied

In the block diagram of FIG. 2, the mail items 120 provided with the ID code are clearly identified. They pass through a measuring and / or scanning device 170, in which the selected physical mailing properties are recorded as in the device 160. In addition, the device 170 detects the ID code and other selected code signals. In a subsequent assignment and identification block 180, the assignment to the defined classes and, in accordance with the respectively determined class and the recognized ID code, the shipment is then uniquely identified. An associated control signal for a sorting section 200 is then generated in a downstream control 190 with a corresponding database.
Fig. 3 shows a letter with an ID code 30 in the form of a bar code. Various physical mail item properties that can be used in the identification are also indicated, for example mail item length 10, mail item height 20, position of the stamp 50, position and content of the recipient address 60, content of the destination code 40.
