Description

The present invention relates to a connector for backplane wiring, consisting of a male connector designed as a one-sided open right-angled housing for plugging onto the knives of a backplane circuit board and a female connector which can be inserted into the male connector with receiving chambers and is firmly connected to a module circuit board, the knives and springs being parallel in several rows are arranged, the walls of the receiving chambers being provided with slots which surround the receiving chambers and inserted into the electrically conductive shielding elements which are conductively connected to one another to form a potential cage, and wherein the bottom of the male connector is provided with slots which the Knives surround and in which electrically conductive shield elements are inserted.

Such a connector has already been proposed in German patent application 4,313,771. At high transmission frequencies, the proposed connector has improved high-frequency properties compared to conventional connectors. However, these improved high-frequency properties do not meet all requirements.

The object of the present invention is to provide a connector of the type mentioned at the outset, the high-frequency properties of which meet all the requirements currently set.

This object is achieved for a plug connector of the type mentioned at the outset in that the shielding elements of the female connector consist of combable shielding transverse sheets and longitudinal shielding sheets which can be inserted into one another, wherein all shielding plates in the front area of the receiving chambers are provided with incisions of a predetermined width and the respective corners are bent in a predetermined direction, and that at the intersection of the shielding elements anchored in the male connector and connected to ground thin additional contact pins are provided, which the shielding plates Contact female connector in the front area of the receiving chambers.

In the connector according to the invention, the shielding elements arranged in the intermediate grid are contacted on the corresponding printed circuit boards by means of the additional contact pins. This enables a KOAX function, which is cheaper than the conventional KOAX connector design and gives the connector according to the invention high-frequency properties which meet all of today's requirements.

An expedient embodiment of the connector according to the invention is characterized in that the shielding elements of the male connector consist of combable shielding sheet metal strips which can be pushed into one another and which are bent essentially in a wave-like manner so that there is a resilient contact with the contact pins at the crossing points. In this way, very good shielding of the signal-carrying knives is also achieved within the bottom of the male connector.

In order to achieve good high-frequency properties even with connectors in which the connections of the female connector are bent at right angles, another embodiment of the connector according to the invention is characterized in that the shielding plates are bent at right angles, the first leg parallel to the longitudinal direction of the receiving chambers and the second Leg runs perpendicular to the circuit board, and that the longitudinal shield plates are separated in the angular range by insulating angle profiles.

Further refinements of the connector according to the invention result from the further subclaims and from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the figure.

Damit der Kunststoffkörper nicht auseinanderfällt, ist ein zusammenhängender Boden von ca. 1mm notwendig.1 shows, among other things, a partial top view of a potential level of the backplane 6 with the larger holes 18 for the contact blades and the smaller holes 19 for the contact pins of the shield. The other part of FIG. 1 shows a partial top view of a male connector housing 1, which has been plugged onto the backplane 6. Between the contact blades 2, slots 4 are provided in the bottom of the male header of the male housing 1. Resilient shielding sheet strips 5 are inserted into these slots. The shielding sheet strips 5 are comb-shaped so that they can be pushed into one another. Here, as shown in the drawing, the shielding sheet strips 5 can be bent essentially in a wave-shaped manner so that they rest non-positively on the contact pins 3 and thus secure contact is ensured. The contact pins 3 are held in the plastic body of the male connector and connected to one another via the sheet metal compartment formed by the shielding sheet metal strips 5. So that the plastic body does not fall apart, a continuous floor of approx. 1mm is necessary.

Weiterhin ist in Fig. 2 der Zusammenhang mit dem Federleistengehäuse 8, welches in das Messerleistengehäuse 1 eingeschoben wird, dargestellt.FIG. 2 shows a partial section through a male connector housing 1 in conjunction with a partial plan view of the male connector housing 1, as shown in FIG. 1. Furthermore, the relationship with the female connector housing 8, which is inserted into the male connector housing 1, is shown in FIG. 2.

The structure of the female connector housing 8 results from Fig. 3, in which a cross section through a female connector housing is shown, in which the connections are bent at right angles to the circuit board, in connection with Figs. 4 and 5, which sections along the lines AA and Represent BB in Fig. 3.

In the female connector housing 8, receiving chambers 11 are provided for the contact springs 10. The contact springs are connected to press-in pins 15, by means of which they are contacted with the assembly circuit board 9. Within the female connector housing 8, 11 longitudinal shielding plates 13 and transverse shielding plates 14 are arranged in slots 12 between the receiving chambers 11. These shielding plates 13 and 14 are essentially formed like a comb and have incisions of a predetermined width in the front region of the receiving chambers, the respective corners of the incisions being bent in a predetermined direction, which is shown in detail in FIG. 7.

The structure and the arrangement of the longitudinal shielding plates 13 and the transverse shielding plates 14 can be seen in FIG. 6. In FIG. 6 angled longitudinal shielding plates 13 are shown, but it is easy to see from this figure how the longitudinal shielding plates 13 are designed, if the female connector housing 8 has a straight passage. The angled longitudinal shielding sheets 13 have elongated holes in their leg, which is perpendicular to the assembly circuit board, into which tabs of the shielding sheets 14, of which only one is shown in FIG. 6, protrude, in order to ensure good contact between the shielding sheets. These flaps are bent over after insertion.

In the angular range, the longitudinal shielding sheets 13 are insulated from one another by angle profiles 16. The entire angular range is covered by means of a cover bracket 17, which is held by means of snap-in connections. The longitudinal shielding sheets 13 are in contact with the printed circuit board 9 by means of press-in pins 22.
