Claims (10)

  1. An apparatus for binding leaves by heating, at least one leaf being provided with adhesive on the edge to be bound, comprising an oblong electric heating means whose length corresponds to the length of an elongated opening of the apparatus, an energising means (19) in order to activate an electric circuit (5-10) by a starting signal when the leaves to be bound are placed on the heating means (4), and means (28,34,13,14,15) for generating information signals upon closure of the opening, which contain data on the thickness of the leaves to be bound, the configuration of the circuit (5-10) being such that a useful signal is generated from the starting signal and the information signals, characterised in that the apparatus has a base part (1) and a cover part (2), that the elongated opening (22) is positioned in the cover part (2) on which a pivotable wall (28) is provided by means of which the opening may be, at least, partially closed, and that a part of the means (34) which serve to produce the information signals is arranged on the pivotable wall (28).
  2. An apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that the opening (22) is delimited by a wall (27) or a retaining plate (29) which forms an angle (W') relative to a reference plane (24) extending at right angles to the base of the apparatus.
  3. An apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the means for generating the information signals, comprise at least a so called reed relay (14;15)).
