Definitions
- the invention relates to a method according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- the invention is based on the object of significantly improving a method of the type mentioned both with regard to the amount of information received and with regard to the implementation in measures resulting therefrom.
- the at least two-dimensional pattern that is known from the fields of speech recognition.
- the output signal of the sensor is determined by the analyzers with regard to all or a large part of those contained therein contained information evaluated. Every piece of information influences the pattern in a characteristic way.
- the comparison of the features of the current pattern with the features of the predefined patterns then readily leads to a concrete statement as to what extent the current operating state can still be tolerated or to what extent it has already approximated a critical operating state.
- a pressure sensor can be used as an application of the invention, for example, which determines the load on a chassis spring of a motor vehicle at the point of contact.
- the further information contained therein such as the fundamental frequency, excitation frequency, amplitude and change in these frequencies and amplitudes, are converted into a corresponding form of the pattern in addition to the primary information of the pressure.
- the comparison of the current pattern with the predefined patterns is carried out using conventional image comparison methods, for example with the aid of a correlation analysis. In the latter case, the correlation coefficient is a precise statement about the agreement of the current pattern with a predetermined pattern.
- other methods for image analysis are also possible, such as those used in the context of photographic images to automatically focus the image.
- a memory-consuming map is not required in the invention, since the features of the patterns can be highly compressed without any significant loss of content.
- Each operating state is recognizable in an image and, due to the characteristic image shape, reveals at an early stage a tendency to reach a critical operating state. This makes it possible to trigger warning or display measures for this critical operating state in good time and to avoid this operating state with certainty.
- the content of claim 2 shows a possibility of creating the specified pattern on the basis of the respective specific application and thus of obtaining a realistic picture of the operating states actually occurring and their effects on the information.
- this measure offers the advantage of obtaining the samples individually and thus obtaining precise information about the actual operating state at all times.
- the measure according to claim 3 extends the practical use of the invention, since the additional acoustic information gives the user of the motor vehicle additional help in avoiding a critical operating state by taking appropriate countermeasures.
- the measure which is described in claim 4, is concerned with limiting the current operating state with the aid of the further operating variables and thus accelerating and specifying the finding of the suitable predetermined pattern. This is of considerable importance, especially for rapid changes in the operating state, since even then the relevant, predetermined pattern can be found in a short and still sufficient time.
- the output signal of a single sensor is used on the one hand directly and on the other hand is analyzed in different ways in order to obtain a two-dimensional pattern.
- This sensor is, for example, a pressure sensor P, which is arranged between a wheel spring and the vehicle body. The wheel in turn can be the right front wheel.
- circuits in which these three analyzes are carried out are designated 2, 3 and 4 in FIG. 1 and work in parallel with an analog / digital converter 1, via which the signal U is digitized.
- the output signals of circuits 1 to 4 are fed to a pattern generator 5, which works in a known manner.
- a pattern generator 5 which works in a known manner.
- Analogous to the output signal of the pressure sensor P in FIG. 1, such analyzes are also common with speech signals.
- FIG. 2 The extraction of such a pattern within the scope of the invention is shown schematically in FIG. 2.
- U the course of the output signal U is shown during a time window determined by the times t 1 and t 2.
- GF represents the fundamental frequency
- U contains two components, one of which (GF) represents the fundamental frequency and the other an oscillation behavior that is influenced by various influencing variables. These include the condition of the road surface, tire pressure, steering angle or various acceleration factors as well as axle and wheel angles. They all result in a typical image for the frequency spectrum, which is converted into a two-dimensional pattern in the pattern generator 5.
- the dimensions of this pattern are determined by the output signals of circuits 1 to 4 and show, for example, the rectangular behavior shown.
- the corner coordinates I-IV are determined by the basic frequency f g at time t 1 (point I), the basic frequency at time t 2 (point II), the average excitation frequency at time t 1 (point III) and the excitation frequency at time t 2 (point IV) .
- the abscissa value of point III is chosen equal to point I.
- the abscissa values of points II and IV are determined starting from point I with an arbitrarily selected abscissa value so that the area of the quadrilateral formed by points I to IV corresponds to the value of the energy content, which is output as the output value of circuit 4.
- a pattern is assigned to the possible driving states of a motor vehicle, which lies on one of the six or, ideally, an infinite number of curves.
- each of these curves is characterized by a relevant parameter, the other parameters being unchanged.
- the variable parameters are e.g. Centripetal force, coefficient of adhesion, acceleration, camber angle, wheel lock and chassis constants.
- the end points of the curves are connected to each other by an envelope H, which describes all critical driving conditions that occur.
- a motor vehicle runs through a number of driving states during its operation, which are shown in the form of a two-dimensional pattern formed with the pattern generator 5. These patterns are included in the patterns shown schematically in FIG. 3. The correspondence of the current pattern with one of the patterns shown in FIG. 3 can be determined with the aid of conventional image comparison techniques, as will be explained in more detail below.
- the countermeasures to be initiated can now consist in the usual way of intervening in the engine or brake control or in some other way serving to prevent the critical driving state. This also includes an indication to the user of the motor vehicle when the operating state of the motor vehicle approaches a critical state.
- the predetermined two-dimensional patterns to be used to compare the current pattern corresponding to the respective operating state can be specified in different ways. It is possible to maintain the pattern shown in FIG. 3 in a pattern memory 6 in FIG. 1. In contrast to this specification of the comparison pattern, which is valid for all motor vehicles of one type, it is also possible to obtain these patterns on the basis of the respective motor vehicle.
- a teach-in circuit known per se for example from the field of production technology, is used, with which it is possible to save these patterns under predetermined operating states.
- a button 7 is shown which activates the pattern memory 6 and enables it to hold the pattern supplied by the pattern generator 5 together with further information.
- This information includes, for example, the type and size of the variable parameter which assigns the pattern to one of the six curves shown in FIG. 3 or describes its change in the course of this curve.
- the pattern supplied by the pattern generator 5 is compared with all the patterns contained in the pattern memory 6. As already explained, the correspondence of the pattern originating from the pattern generator 5 with one of the stored patterns is determined with the aid of conventional image comparison techniques. This comparison takes place in a pattern comparator 7.
- the given pattern can only be found in the area of two curves in the respective operating case.
- the pattern comparator 7 thus uses only the predetermined patterns available in this area for comparison to compare the current pattern. This leads to a significant reduction in processing time.
- the pattern comparator 7 additionally determines whether this operating state is an upcoming critical operating state. This is made possible, for example light that two, for example at a defined time interval, successive current patterns supplied by the pattern generator 5 are compared and the degree of approximation to the envelope H is determined. If the operating state of the motor vehicle approaches the critical operating state, the pattern of the envelope H also approximates. In this case, the pattern comparator 7 initiates warning and auxiliary measures.
- the warning measures can consist, for example, in that warning texts are generated in a language generator (not shown) and output in the usual way.
- the auxiliary measures are taken via a device 9 which, for example, intervenes in the brakes or intervenes in the engine or drive management.
- Corresponding calculation methods are used for this, which allow further dimensions of the pattern to be taken into account. These dimensions can take into account further operating parameters of the motor vehicle. These are e.g. Mass, centripetal force, coefficient of adhesion, acceleration, camber angle, wheel lock and chassis constant.
- this multidimensional pattern processing amounts to the method which is shown with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3 for a two-dimensional pattern.
- n-dimensional in the exemplary embodiment shown, two-dimensional
- the method of pattern generation or pattern comparison used for this purpose is a very efficient method, since it allows, in a simple and clear manner, to assign to the current operating state a pattern that can be easily generated and processed solely from the output signal of a single relevant sensor.

Abstract
In a method for determining operating states of a motor vehicle from the output signals of a sensor for a relevant operating variable, an analysis of a sensor signal with regard to various relevant operating parameters is first carried out with the aid of the output signal of the sensor and further analyzers, and an n (for example two ) creates a dimensional pattern. This pattern, which is also known in principle from the field of speech recognition or processing, is compared with predefined patterns and enables simple and quick analysis of the current operating state or quick recognition of an upcoming critical operating state. Appropriate warning and auxiliary measures are then to be carried out without further ado.
Description
The invention relates to a method according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
In such a method, as is known from DE-OS 30 07 747, it is a matter of obtaining the information contained in the output signal of the sensor about a further operating variable with the aim of saving a separate sensor for this further operating variable. The sensor is used to measure a physical quantity such as to determine a speed, a path, an angular position or a pressure and to obtain information about, for example, temperature or another pressure as additional information. The primary information contained in the output signal of the sensor and the further information are used to control the access to a characteristic curve or a characteristic diagram.
The invention is based on the object of significantly improving a method of the type mentioned both with regard to the amount of information received and with regard to the implementation in measures resulting therefrom.
The invention solves this problem by the characterizing features of patent claim 1.
Of central importance for the invention is the at least two-dimensional pattern that is known from the fields of speech recognition. The output signal of the sensor is determined by the analyzers with regard to all or a large part of those contained therein contained information evaluated. Every piece of information influences the pattern in a characteristic way. The comparison of the features of the current pattern with the features of the predefined patterns then readily leads to a concrete statement as to what extent the current operating state can still be tolerated or to what extent it has already approximated a critical operating state.
A pressure sensor can be used as an application of the invention, for example, which determines the load on a chassis spring of a motor vehicle at the point of contact. The further information contained therein, such as the fundamental frequency, excitation frequency, amplitude and change in these frequencies and amplitudes, are converted into a corresponding form of the pattern in addition to the primary information of the pressure. The comparison of the current pattern with the predefined patterns is carried out using conventional image comparison methods, for example with the aid of a correlation analysis. In the latter case, the correlation coefficient is a precise statement about the agreement of the current pattern with a predetermined pattern. In addition, other methods for image analysis are also possible, such as those used in the context of photographic images to automatically focus the image.
In contrast to other known methods for determining the operating state, a memory-consuming map is not required in the invention, since the features of the patterns can be highly compressed without any significant loss of content. Each operating state is recognizable in an image and, due to the characteristic image shape, reveals at an early stage a tendency to reach a critical operating state. This makes it possible to trigger warning or display measures for this critical operating state in good time and to avoid this operating state with certainty.
Further refinements and improvements of the invention are described in the further patent claims.
Thus, the content of
The measure according to claim 3 extends the practical use of the invention, since the additional acoustic information gives the user of the motor vehicle additional help in avoiding a critical operating state by taking appropriate countermeasures.
Finally, the measure, which is described in
- Fig. 3 ein Diagramm zur Erläuterung der Wirkungsweise der Erfindung.
- Fig. 1 is a block diagram for an application of the invention
- Fig. 2 is a schematic representation of the pattern extraction used in the invention and
- Fig. 3 is a diagram for explaining the operation of the invention.
In the block diagram of FIG. 1, the output signal of a single sensor is used on the one hand directly and on the other hand is analyzed in different ways in order to obtain a two-dimensional pattern. This sensor is, for example, a pressure sensor P, which is arranged between a wheel spring and the vehicle body. The wheel in turn can be the right front wheel.
The analysis of the output signals delivered by such a pressure sensor in the form of a variable alternating voltage U can be carried out with the aid of a Fast Fourier transformation, a fundamental frequency analysis and an analysis of the energy content over a predetermined frequency band. For the latter term, only the expression energy content is used in the following.
The circuits in which these three analyzes are carried out are designated 2, 3 and 4 in FIG. 1 and work in parallel with an analog / digital converter 1, via which the signal U is digitized. The output signals of circuits 1 to 4 are fed to a
The extraction of such a pattern within the scope of the invention is shown schematically in FIG. 2. For this purpose, the course of the output signal U is shown during a time window determined by the times t 1 and
The dimensions of this pattern are determined by the output signals of circuits 1 to 4 and show, for example, the rectangular behavior shown. The corner coordinates I-IV are determined by the basic frequency f g at time t 1 (point I), the basic frequency at time t 2 (point II), the average excitation frequency at time t 1 (point III) and the excitation frequency at time t 2 (point IV) . The abscissa value of point III is chosen equal to point I. The abscissa values of points II and IV are determined starting from point I with an arbitrarily selected abscissa value so that the area of the quadrilateral formed by points I to IV corresponds to the value of the energy content, which is output as the output value of
This pattern, which is exemplarily represented by points I to IV, is characteristic of the driving (= operating) state of the motor vehicle. If this changes and points I to IV are formed in a corresponding manner for the new driving state, the pattern also changes in a characteristic manner. This is shown in Figure 3.
In this figure, it is shown on the basis of characteristic curves for typical pattern shapes how these retain their characteristic shape when there is a typical change in the driving state and at the same time can be seen that a critical driving state is approaching. The changes in typical pattern shapes shown by way of example on six curves K1-K6 all lead to a shape that changes from the shape of this pattern to an uncritical state - with a correspondingly changed value - while maintaining the unchanged parameters and changing a relevant parameter in the critical case of the variable parameter - only differs in the size of the pattern.
A pattern is assigned to the possible driving states of a motor vehicle, which lies on one of the six or, ideally, an infinite number of curves. As already stated, each of these curves is characterized by a relevant parameter, the other parameters being unchanged. In the case of the six curves shown, the variable parameters are e.g. Centripetal force, coefficient of adhesion, acceleration, camber angle, wheel lock and chassis constants. The end points of the curves are connected to each other by an envelope H, which describes all critical driving conditions that occur.
A motor vehicle runs through a number of driving states during its operation, which are shown in the form of a two-dimensional pattern formed with the
If the motor vehicle approaches a critical operating state, this is shown in FIG. 3 by the fact that the pattern lies in the vicinity of the envelope H or tends towards it. By the form of the formation of the pattern and the comparison with given It is thus possible to sample in advance to recognize the approach to a critical operating state and to initiate appropriate countermeasures. These critical operating states are expressed in patterns which are shown for the first and last curve and which differ from the patterns of the associated curve only in terms of the area. The basic shape and affiliation to one of the curves K1-K6 shown for the different variable parameters is expressed in the similarity of the patterns.
The countermeasures to be initiated can now consist in the usual way of intervening in the engine or brake control or in some other way serving to prevent the critical driving state. This also includes an indication to the user of the motor vehicle when the operating state of the motor vehicle approaches a critical state.
The predetermined two-dimensional patterns to be used to compare the current pattern corresponding to the respective operating state can be specified in different ways. It is possible to maintain the pattern shown in FIG. 3 in a
Dieser Vergleich erfolgt in einem Mustervergleicher 7.As an embodiment of the invention, the pattern supplied by the
Instead of the possibility of comparing the current pattern with all the stored patterns, other operating parameters of the motor vehicle, such as the speed v the distance s traveled, the time t from a starting time, the number of revolutions of the internal combustion engine or the adhesion coefficient can be used as a means for accelerating the pattern comparison can be used, which can be determined by means of special sensors. These operating parameters are processed in a
As soon as the current pattern is matched with a predetermined pattern, ie the current operating state of the motor vehicle is identified with a predetermined operating state, the pattern comparator 7 additionally determines whether this operating state is an upcoming critical operating state. This is made possible, for example light that two, for example at a defined time interval, successive current patterns supplied by the
Instead of the two-dimensional pattern shown in FIG. 2 or FIG. 3, this can also be multidimensional. Corresponding calculation methods are used for this, which allow further dimensions of the pattern to be taken into account. These dimensions can take into account further operating parameters of the motor vehicle. These are e.g. Mass, centripetal force, coefficient of adhesion, acceleration, camber angle, wheel lock and chassis constant. In principle, however, this multidimensional pattern processing amounts to the method which is shown with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3 for a two-dimensional pattern.
With the aid of the invention, it is possible to analyze the current operating state of a motor vehicle with the aid of an n-dimensional (in the exemplary embodiment shown, two-dimensional) pattern and to recognize the approach to a critical operating state in good time. The method of pattern generation or pattern comparison used for this purpose is a very efficient method, since it allows, in a simple and clear manner, to assign to the current operating state a pattern that can be easily generated and processed solely from the output signal of a single relevant sensor.
