Abstract

The knife has a cutting blade (1), with one blade end (2) bedded and supported in a synthetic plastics body (3). The body is covered in turn by an elastomer layer (4). The elastomer layer is at least partially interrupted in a front (5) and intermediate (6) region of the handle to leave the body exposed at these places. The body comes out flush to the elastomer layer at these cut-outs which helps to anchor the cladding to the body.

Description

The present model relates to a knife whose handle is coated with an elastomer.

This knife is in particular intended for professional uses, in particular esages having a character of continuity or semi-continuity over time.

Given the type of activity that a person intending to use the knife must deploy according to the model, the elastomer to be used to coat the handle of the knife must be of a type which is capable of adequately absorbing the shocks to which the knife may be subjected, which offers good resistance to sliding even in contact with fatty substances, which is unassailable by conventional detergents, and which is capable of withstanding temperatures of at least 120 degrees. Thus, by way of example, it is advantageous to use as elastomer a synthetic rubber based on styrene-butadiene (Buna), or based on ethylene-propylene, or based on polyacrylic esters, or even thermoplastic elastomers based on polyesters. -polyethers.

The above-mentioned elastomers are, inter alia, capable of being perfectly welded to the plastic material, preferably of an impact-absorbing type (belonging to the class of polyamides, for example), in which the tail of the knife blade is embedded .

  • - La figure 1 est une vue de côté du couteau selon le modèle;
The handle knife coated with an elastomer which is the object of this model is described in more detail below in relation to one of its preferred embodiments for the intelligence of which reference will be made to the drawing, of which:
  • - Figure 1 is a side view of the knife according to the model;
  • - Figure 2 is a sectional view along the line AA of Figure 1; and
  • - Figure 3 is a sectional view along line BB of Figure 2.

The knife forming the object of the present model and which is represented according to one of its preferred embodiments in the appended drawing, essentially consists of a sharp blade 1 (made of hardened steel or stainless steel, for example) of which a tail 2 is embedded and supported in a body 3 of artificial plastic material, this body being in turn covered with a layer of elastomer 4.

As can easily be seen from an examination of the figures in the drawing, said elastomer does not completely cover the body 3 of artificial plastic material, but leaves at least one intermediate region, as designated by 6 (Figures 1 and 3) partially uncovered , said regions being moreover maintained at the same level as the external surface of coating 4.

This constructive feature makes it possible, among other things, to better anchor said elastic covering to the body of rigid, artificial plastic material, which serves to support the tail 2 of the blade 1.

It is obvious that the shape and the dimensions of the aforementioned sharp blade and the handle are characteristics not entering in the field of the model.
