Abstract

A socket terminal strip is provided for receiving a complementary plug strip provided with knife contact pins. The socket terminal strip has an insulating body in whose chambers contact members are arranged. A row of webs extending crosswise is positioned longitudinally on the back side, which webs are separated from each other by incisions, so that a chamber-like arrangement is formed. In order to provide for increased connection possibilities with different contact assignment for the same number of contacts, a row of webs and incisions is provided on each of the two longitudinal edges on the back side of the insulating body, which webs and incisions are staggered. An incision of the second row is thus opposite to a corresponding web of the first row, and a web of the second row is opposite to a corresponding incision of the first row. Each chamber has two contact members with connection parts which reach out of the insulating body on opposing sides, such that the connection part are led alternatively over the webs and lie in the incisions. By this means electrically common connection lugs can then be soldered into different printed-circuit boards, thereby increasing the number of different connections that can be made to the plug strip.

Description

The invention is based on a female header according to the preamble of claim 1.

Derartige Buchsenleisten sind als sogenannte Peritelevisionsverbindungen bekannt.Such socket strips are known as so-called Peritelevisionsverbindungen.

Due to new services in radio and television communication, especially in the private sector, the peritelevision is becoming increasingly important. Just think of new applications in video technology, such as B. VCR, electronic games, video cameras, videography, on-screen text, teletext and much more. This also includes the introduction of data processing devices in the home area. In these applications, the private television receiver serves as a viewing device. These new services and the corresponding audiovisual devices should be able to be operated alone or simultaneously. In addition, they should be easy to use for the layperson. There was therefore a need to create a universal connection for the various devices of the audiovisual system. This connection consists of a socket part, which is permanently attached to the device, and a plug part, which is located at the end of a flexible cable. Both parts have two rows of 10 contacts each in a staggered arrangement and an additional contact for shielding. This shield surrounds the insulating part that carries the individual contacts. Fork springs are used as contacts. The assignment of the individual contacts is specified in a standard. Depending on the intended application, there are four types of cables, one of which contains all the connections listed in the standard. Another type contains all video connections except audio. The third type contains the connections for audio and video signals but without RGB for color television. The last type includes all audio connections except video.

From DE-OS 24 52 402 a fork spring is already known, which is used in a chamber of a socket strip. As a flat stamped part, it has two connecting bars on both sides. In the middle there is a U-shaped contact fork, which is connected to a strip part via a central web. The strip part is adjoined on both sides by two U-shaped connection lugs, the ends of which protrude from the bottom of the housing of the socket strip. With these two connection lugs, the fork spring is soldered together with the housing into just one printed circuit board.

An edge connector for printed circuits is known from DE-OS 28 51 712. A U-shaped contact fork is used to make contact with the conductor tracks and is connected to two plug connections for connecting wires via a web. The connection wires are stripped at the end. The connecting wires are held in the plug connections by barbs designed as resilient arms, which are arranged inclined towards the center in the direction of insertion of the connecting wire.

In DE-PS 2 104406 a connector for connecting two circuit boards with a U-shaped fork spring is also described. A housing has several chambers, in each of which the fork springs are inserted. These fork springs are made from a single stamped part that is bent at one bending edge so that two essentially symmetrical contact spring parts are created. In addition, a rag is provided which serves to hold both parts together after being folded. Because there is a plug connection between two circuit boards lying on the same level, no connecting part is required.

The object of the present invention is to provide a socket strip of the type mentioned at the outset, which, with the same number of contacts, allows several connection options with different assignment of the contacts in several levels.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.

Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen ergeben sich aus den Unteransprüchen.Advantageous refinements result from the subclaims.

The invention is explained in more detail below for two exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawings.

Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a socket strip, which consists of an elongated, made of plastic insulating body 1. On the two narrow sides, an extension 19 is formed, in which an opening 20 is recessed. Formed on each shoulder is a holding tongue 18 on the underside, with which the insulating body can be snapped and held in a printed circuit, not shown in the figures. With the help of screws inserted through the openings, the insulating body is fastened to a housing chassis together with the printed circuit. On the front side, the insulating body 11 is provided with a circumferential recess 21 for receiving the metal shielding of the plug. A circumferential edge 22 and a central part 23 are formed in the insulating body 1 by the recess 21. In the recess 21, a fork spring is used as contact elements, which connects the shield of the plug to ground.

In the middle part 23 two parallel rows of chambers 2 extending in the longitudinal direction of the insulating material body are provided. Contact elements 3 in the form of U-shaped fork springs are inserted into the chambers. When a plug connector is inserted into the socket connector, the 3.6 mm wide male pins of the connector connector come into electrical contact with the fork springs. Ten chambers are arranged in one row, while in the other row there are also ten chambers and the additional ground contact.

The rear of the insulating body 1 is shown in FIG. 2 in a perspective view. Along the upper longitudinal edge of the insulating body, webs 7 and incisions 8 alternate in a first row in a comb-like arrangement. Along the lower longitudinal edge there are webs 9 and incisions 10 in a second row, likewise in a comb-like arrangement. Both rows are offset from one another, so that a web 7 of the first row is opposite an incision 10 of the second row, or an incision 8 of the first row is a web 9 of the second row. The webs are arranged transversely with respect to the longitudinal edges and, as can be seen from FIG. 2, they extend to about a third of the width of the insulating material body 1, to the point where the outlet openings of the contact elements from the insulating material body are located.

These are so-called fork springs. They consist of a U-shaped contact part 4, to which two connecting parts 5, 24 and a connecting lug 6 are connected. The contact element 3 is provided with a constriction between the contact part and the first connection part 5, so that there is a first predetermined bending point 11. There is a further constriction between the first connecting part 5 and the second connecting member 24, so that a second predetermined bending point 12 is thereby formed. Finally, the connecting lug 6 and the second connecting part 24 are connected to one another by a further constriction. This represents the fastening point 13. The contact element can now be bent at approximately a right angle as required at the predetermined bending points or also at the fastening point.

In order to increase the possibilities of the external wiring, a second contact element is arranged in each chamber according to the invention, which is congruent with the first contact element at least with respect to the contact part 4. However, the connection lugs can be different, e.g. suitable for printed circuits, for wire connections etc. The two contact elements of a chamber are bent at different predetermined bending points. A contact element is bent at the second predetermined bending point and e.g. the first row, while the other contact element is bent at the first predetermined bending point and lies in the incision of the other row opposite the web. Both connection lugs are on different levels and they protrude from the insulating body on different sides. With the two adjacent contact elements, it is exactly the opposite.

If there is now a first row of bars and incisions, e.g. bent a contact element from the second row of chambers at the first predetermined bending point. The adjacent contact element from the first row of chambers is guided along the contour of the web and bent at the second predetermined bending point. The contact lugs of both contact elements lie in different planes, the contact element of the first row of chambers lying in the incision, while the connecting lug of the contact element of the second row of chambers protrudes from the insulating material body at the level of the upper edge of the web.

In order to separate the individual connecting parts better and more electrically, thin ribs 15 are formed on the insulating body 1 between the individual connecting parts. These extend between the webs and incisions of the two rows. This is shown in FIG. 5.

To fasten the contact elements to the insulating body, tongues 14 are provided on the webs and in the incisions on the longitudinal edge side, which are deformable and with the aid of which the contact elements are fixed at the fastening points 13. The determination is made by hot deformation of the tongues e.g. by means of a stamp.

As can be seen from Figure 2, a support pin 17 is formed on each web, on which the connecting part is supported. The support pins are located at the end of the webs opposite the tongues 14.

In a first embodiment, the two contact elements are located in the chambers in such a way that both contact parts touch. According to FIG. 4, another second embodiment provides that the contact parts are separated from one another by transverse walls 16. If the relatively wide connector pin is inserted, both contact elements are electrically twisted together. The plug pin has thus taken over the function of a contact bridge.
