Die Einsatzvielfalt und damit der Gebrauchswert der Anordnung wird dadurch entscheidend verbessert. Der Einsteckschacht hat neben seiner Funktion zur Aufnahme des Schlüsselelementes die Zusatzfunktion, den Stecker aufzunehmen, der den Speicher des Schlosses abfragt nach den im Speicher vorhandenen Kodierungsfunktionen einschliesslich voraufgegangener Kodierungsänderungen, Kodierungsbenutzungen durch früher eingeschobene Schiüsselelemente usw.
