Abstract

The cassette is suspended via a holding structure from the main ceiling, and has a flat bottom (3) with visible underside and containing a large number of holes (7). Edges extending upwards from the bottom engage with the structure, and there is a layer of sound-absorbent material (8) at the bottom. This consists of organically-bonded plaster, in which are particles (9) larger than the diameter of the holes in the bottom. The plaster can be sprayed into place, and an aqueous copolymer plastics dispersion can be used as the bonding agent. The particles can be grains of marble and of 1.2 to 4 mm. diameter, while that of the holes can be between 1 and 4 mm. Part of the plaster can extend through the holes to the other side. <IMAGE>
