In dem Zwischenstück befindet sich nun ein eingedichtetes Metall - Kegelventil h, welches den Glascylinder von dem oberen Theil durch eine Schraubenfeder vollständig abschliefst. Um nun die Spitze zu gebrauchen, erfafst man mit zwei Fingern die Ringe d und e, mit dem Daumen den Ring g, drückt den Kolben hinunter, wobei sich mit Hülfe der Schraubenfeder das Ventil h öffnet, hält den Glascylinder in die Flüssigkeit und läfst nun langsam den Kolben durch die Schraubenfeder hochtreiben, wobei die Flüssigkeit in den Cylinder gesaugt wird. Ist der Kolben ganz hoch, so schliefst sich auch das Kegelventil wieder, da die Feder aufser Kraft tritt, und die Flüssigkeit befindet sich nun im Glascylinder. Um zu spritzen, drückt man den Kolben schnell hinunter, wobei sich das Kegelventil öffnet und der Luftdruck die Flüssigkeit aus dem Cylinder austreibt.
