Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a layer composite in Preamble of claim 1 mentioned type.
Such a layer composite is advantageous for increasing the Counterfeit protection of documents of all kinds is used, whereby the layered composite with its striking optically variable Patterns is glued to the document to be protected.
A layer composite with diffraction structures is from the EP-A-04 01 466 known. It contains an adhesive layer with which the layered composite with its optically variable patterns on the document to be protected is stuck. This adhesive layer is a layer of hot glue. A layered composite on a document to glue, thermal energy is necessary. When sticking on a certain temperature can be reached at which the adhesive softens and becomes sticky. The process of sticking therefore requires a certain amount of time because the adhesive layer must be heated through the remaining layers. At a Series production therefore requires a longer cycle time, which limits the speed of manufacture.
Various embossing processes for inexpensive duplication of optical diffraction structures in thermoplastic surfaces are for example in CH-PS 6 61 683, CH-PS 5 95 664 and CH-PS 5 94 936.
The invention has for its object a composite layer of the type mentioned at the beginning to create a clear Shortening the cycle time when sticking to the one to be protected Document enables so that the manufacturing cost is reduced will.
The stated object is achieved by the features of claim 1 solved. Advantageous configurations result from the dependent claims. The use of the layer composite is characterized in claim 6.
The solution according to the invention has the advantage that the Application of the layer composite to the document to be protected dispense with large and expensive application machines can be. This means that the application is no longer mandatory of security features to execute centrally, but it will allows to decentralize this. That way it is For example, possible identification documents from different Positions are issued at the location of their exhibition To equip security features. The invention Layer composite elements allow both automatic and also a manual application. The fact that when sticking on the application of heat is dispensed with, the cycle time significantly reduced when sticking on.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described below the drawing explained in more detail.

In FIG. 1, a transparent stabilization, 1 indicates the layer on in the order given a deposited intermediate layer 2, a first resist layer 3, a reflection layer 4, a second resist layer 5 and an adhesive layer 6. Layers 1 to 6 form a layer composite 7 . Optical diffraction structures 8 are embedded between the lacquer layers 3 and 5 .
The adhesive layer 6 consists of a self-adhesive cold adhesive. Before processing, gluing onto a document to be protected, the adhesive layer is advantageously covered by a carrier film 9 . This carrier film 9 can advantageously consist of paraffin or siliconized paper or of a paraffin or siliconized plastic film, for example polyester.
The diffraction structures 8 are illuminated through the stabilization layer 1 , the intermediate layer 2 and the lacquer layer 3 . The diffracted and reflected light is reflected back through layers 1 to 3 to the viewer.
The stabilization layer 1 advantageously consists of a heat-resistant, clear film of high optical quality. It can be colorless or colored. For example, fluorescent or phosphorescent dyes can be included in order to create better possibilities for machine processing of the documents provided with a security feature, to which such a layer composite 7 is later applied. Polyester, for example, is very suitable as a layer material, which is characterized not only by the high optical quality but also by high tensile strength and high temperature resistance. The stabilization layer 1 advantageously has a thickness of 9 to 50 micrometers, so that it is on the one hand sufficiently firm and on the other hand not too thick on the document to which it is applied. Such thin layers withstand fraudulent attempts to peel them off very well, since they offer only a small contact surface at the edges.
As the intermediate layer 2, an adhesion promoter (primer) is applied surface-wide on the stabilization layer. 1 The adhesion promoter brings about a high level of adhesion between the stabilization layer 1 and the subsequent lacquer layer 3 . A varnish based on polyurethane is advantageously used as an adhesion promoter, so that the intermediate layer 2 is resistant to light, especially to ultraviolet light, and to solvents. The intermediate layer 2 has an application thickness in the micrometer range, preferably 0.8 to 2 micrometers. Films that have already been coated with the intermediate layer 2 at the supplier can also advantageously be used for the stabilization layer 1 .
The lacquer layer 3 can also be applied directly to the stabilization layer 1 if the adhesiveness of the lacquer layer 3 on the stabilization layer 1 is sufficient. The adhesiveness can advantageously be achieved by pretreating the stabilization layer 1 , e.g. B. in a corona or plasma discharge. A boundary layer between the resist layer 3 and the stabilization layer 1 and an altered by pretreatment surface layer of the stabilization layer 1 takes in these examples, the function of the intermediate layer. 2
The first lacquer layer 3 is advantageously applied in at least one work step and has a layer thickness between 0.5 and 1.5 micrometers, preferably 1 micrometer.
The reflection layer 4 is then applied to the lacquer layer 3 , the lacquer layer 3 advantageously being pretreated by means of a corona discharge in order to bring about a good adhesion of the reflection layer 4 to the lacquer layer 3 . A metal, for example aluminum, is preferably vapor-deposited as the reflection layer 4 , which is inexpensive and reflects visible and infrared light well even in thin layers. A thickness of less than 30 nanometers is sufficient for a metallic reflection layer 4 ; for aluminum it is about 15 nanometers.
However, the reflection layer 4 can also be a dielectric whose refractive index differs as much as possible from that of the adjacent layers 3 and 5 . The diffraction structures 8 are partially transparent and hide underlying materials, e.g. B. a picture, not complete.
The use of dielectrics is known. The reflection layer 4 can for example be a homogeneous layer made of a dielectric with a high refractive index, namely z. B. Nb 2 O 5 , TiO 2 or ZrO 2 , which have a refractive index of n = 2.5. This layer advantageously has a thickness of 55 to 65 nm.
To achieve certain optical effects, the reflection layer 4 can advantageously consist of several layers, namely for example 3 or 5 layers. The 1st, 3rd and optionally 5th layer advantageously consists of one of the aforementioned materials with a high refractive index, while the 2nd and optionally 4th layer consist of a material with a low refractive index, for example SiO 2 , which has a refractive index of approximately 1.5. The layers of material with a high refractive index are advantageously 55 to 65 nm thick, and the layers of material with a low refractive index are 70 to 80 nm thick.
With one of the known embossing methods mentioned in the introduction, the relief profile of at least one optical diffraction structure 8 is embossed with a heated matrix through the reflection layer 4 into the lacquer layer 3 .
It is also possible to emboss the diffraction structures 8 directly into the lacquer layer 3 before the reflection layer 4 is applied. The embossing through the reflective layer 4 consisting of a dielectric has the advantage, however, that the heated die used for embossing is less contaminated because the above-mentioned materials used as dielectric tend less to stick to the die than the lacquer used for the lacquer layer 3 or the metal used for the reflection layer 4 .
The relief of the diffraction structures 8 has a typical profile height of approximately 0.5 micrometers. An application of the second lacquer layer 5 of approximately 0.15 to 1.5 micrometers thick (eg 1 micrometer) completely levels the relief. The microstructure profile is therefore not accessible to counterfeits. The same thermoplastic material is advantageously used for both paint layers 3 and 5 , for example an acrylic polymer paint.
The acrylic polymer lacquer of the lacquer layer 3 can be colored so that it is transparent at least in a predetermined part of the light spectrum. The diffraction structures 8 remain machine or visually readable in a predetermined color. If, for example, the dye is only permeable to infrared light, the diffraction structures 8 are hidden from the unarmed eye and can only be recognized by means of a reading device (not shown here) which is able to determine the presence of the diffraction structures 8 .
The finally applied adhesive layer 6, preferably 10 to 30 micrometers thick, initially enables the layer composite 7 to be adhered to a carrier film 9 according to FIG. 2.
A partial area, the z. B. contains a self-contained predetermined composition from the diffraction structures 8 , is advantageously punched or cut out of the layer composite 7 as a mark 10 . A mark 10 has, for example, a circular shape of 2 cm in diameter, but the marks 10 can also be cut out in other sizes and have oval, rectangular or other shapes of the border. Their shape and dimensions are e.g. B. predetermined by the graphic composition of the diffraction structures 8 ( Fig. 1).
A number of such marks 10 are arranged on the carrier film 9 until they are applied to the document to be protected. They are advantageously positioned equidistantly so that they can later be processed not only manually but also automatically. The marks 10 are punched out of the layer composite 7 by means of a device not shown here, without damaging the carrier film 9 . The part of the layer composite 7 which is not required and which no longer contains marks 10 is z. B. deducted from the carrier film 9 . Until further processing, the carrier film 9 stuck with the marks 10 can advantageously be stored as a roll. The marks 10 are arranged on the carrier film 9 in a predetermined position and orientation.
Known self-adhesive cold adhesives such as are used for self-adhesive tapes and labels are suitable for the adhesive layer 6 . Cold adhesives which are practically colorless in the stated thickness and which do not interfere with viewing the diffraction structures 8 or an image underneath are advantageously used.
The use of a self-adhesive cold adhesive has the advantage that the layer composite 7 is not exposed to heat when glued. The thermal load is limited by the sensitivity of the diffraction structures 8 impressed into the lacquer layer 3 . If heat input during gluing is avoided, the full heat resistance of the layer composite 7 is still available for a later lamination process.
After the application, the mark 10 according to FIG. 3 is arranged on the document 11 .
The layer thickness of the adhesive layer 6 is advantageously adapted to the surface properties of the document 11 to which they are to be glued. With smooth documents 11 , such as. B. in photo papers, 20 microns thickness of the adhesive layer 6 are sufficient, while the adhesive layer 6 with a rough document 11 advantageously has a thickness of 30 microns or more. In the case of paper with a normal surface structure, for example, the thickness of the adhesive layer 6 is approximately 25 micrometers.
The documents 11 are, for example, papers or plastics with different surface properties, such as occur with photo papers, ID cards, securities, banknotes etc.
After the label 10 has been stuck onto the document 11 to be protected, the entire document 11 can advantageously be covered with a laminating film 12 (according to FIG. 4), e.g. B. with passports and other personal documents.
The laminating film 12 can be colored and act as a color filter or advantageously also be colorless, so as not to impair the striking play of the diffraction colors. Because of its high tensile strength and temperature resistance, polyester is advantageously suitable as a material for the laminating film 12 , the thickness of which is approximately 80 to 300 micrometers.
The laminating film 12 has an adhesive layer, not shown. Laminating foils 12 to be processed both hot and cold are customary.
More specifically, the mark 10 of a pasted into a document 11 photograph 13 is with advantage for securing z. B. the owner. Instead of an easily forged imprint of an official stamp or an embossing of an official seal, the mark 10 is arranged over adjacent partial areas of the document 11 and the photograph 13 . One partial surface of the adhesive layer 6 ( FIG. 1) is firmly connected to the photograph 13 and the other partial surface to the document 11 . The mark 10 can also be arranged over the whole area on the photograph 13 or on the document 11 .
If in a detachment attempt the layer composite 7 of the mark 10 is subjected to tension, the stabilizing layer 1 separates from the remaining part of the layer composite 7 , so that the diffraction structure 8 remains on the document to be protected. If further attempts are made to detach the remaining part of the layer composite 7 , the diffraction structure 8 is inevitably destroyed. In this way, it is impossible, for example, to replace the photograph 13 with an identity card.
