Description
The invention relates to a pulse Doppler radar device with a fixed-character suppression circuit and with a variable pulse repetition frequency (PRF).
In an effort to make the antennas of radar devices as small as possible, the frequency of the radar transmitter is set as high as possible, as far as the expected atmospheric conditions and the technology allow. The need to work with the highest possible transmission frequencies is even stronger with altitude-finding radar devices because of the larger antenna. There are already limits to this desire where radar devices are to be used not only in the short range but also for medium ranges, e.g. 100 lan. The increase in the range, combined with a reduction in the pulse repetition rate (PRF), the deterioration in the suppression of Doppler frequencies of the undesired signals from slowly moving targets as a result of the reduction in the lower limit speed are disadvantageous here. With the reduction in the pulse repetition frequency, given the same relative pole width of the fixed-character suppression circuit, there is also a reduction in the absolute lower limit frequency, which is decisive for the lower limit speed. On the other hand, an increase in the lower limit frequency, which results in a reduction in the pass width of the filter for fixed-character suppression, is offset by an inadmissible deterioration in the blind speed behavior.
The opposing demands for enlargement the range of the radar device and improve the suppression of signals from yourself slowly moving goals can no longer be met by a compromise.
However, a pulse Doppler radar is conceivable for the one to discover nearby targets with a high transmission frequency and an equally high pulse repetition rate and for detecting distant targets with a low transmit frequency and a low one as well Pulse repetition rate is worked. The work results with such a radar device are good, the however, the technical effort involved is high.
The invention is based on the object for a pulse Doppler radar device of the type mentioned to show a way, with reasonable effort, even with radar devices with a high transmission frequency work and that are designed for a medium range, good suppression of targets that move at a slow speed without increasing the incidence of residual clutter and the occurrence of overreach signals is favored. This object is achieved according to the invention solved in that to suppress slow targets a range interleaving by periodic Change of the pulse repetition frequency is made within each target sweep time, such that under Use of several common system components

The high pulse repetition frequency is advantageously 15 ratio PRF'21PRFl of the pulse repetition frequency is at least about twice as large as the low pulse repetition rate is at least about 1: 2 and is therefore essentially repetition frequency. The high pulse repetition frequency can also be greater than the pulse repetition frequency usually used to suppress B, a larger integer multiple of the lower pulse / blind speed ranges. As a result of using a frequency change. As a result of the division into two high pulse repetition frequencies, through which the range of the distance range can be limited to a close range in the distance range with radar equipment, the lower limit frequency of the fixed-character filters is so high compared to an STC for the entire range, if the gain is lower than the dynamic range, that slowly moving targets become. Synchronously with the electronic switch 3 in FIG. 2 a corresponding switch 13 must be controlled in the radar receiver. In the basic circuit diagram of the radar receiver according to FIG. 3, the antenna used jointly for the transmitting and receiving part is denoted by 1. After amplification, conversion and rectification in the receiving section 12, the echo signals received via the antenna 1 are passed on as video signals to a signal evaluation circuit and finally displayed using a display device 14, zo The signal evaluation device is divided into a branch 16 for processing the echo signals from the post-range PRFi and in the processing branch 15 for the long range with the PRF2. The electronic switch 13 switches the video signals from the output of the receiving part 12 alternately to the processing branch 15 with the evaluation circuit for the low pulse frequency PRF2 and a subsequent rectification or to the second evaluation branch 16 for the echo signals from the far range. To display the target echo signals, the output of an evaluation branch 15 or 16 is connected to a display device 14 via an OR gate 17.
In the described configuration of the transmitting and receiving part, a substantial part of the radar device can shared. There is a separate signal processing for the two distance ranges only required in the two evaluation branches 15 and 16 of the radar receiver, while antenna, transmitter, Receiving part, apart from pulse compression or optimal filter and target display, do not require any separation.
