Description
The authorization signals sent out are made with the help of simple clock circuits that are controlled with the network frequency as a basis. By using the network frequency as a basis, there is no need to generate and transmit an additional synchronization signal, which means that the circuit complexity in the new subscriber television system is kept small. In contrast to the known arrangement in which the type of encryption is changed after a certain time interval in order to be able to prevent the decryption of the received television signals after the authorization of a recipient has ended, the new television system has a uniform and temporally unchanged encryption of the TV signals is worked, the circuit complexity is further reduced both at the transmitter and the individual receivers. Continued proper decoding of the received television signals on the other hand also be: the new television system prevented when a receiver is removed from the authority. This is achieved with the help of the continued new activation of the decoder provided in the receiver via the authorization signal that is repeatedly sent out.
Im einzelnen zeigenThe invention is explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. in the single show

The new subscriber television system has a central unit that sends television signals to several via a cable Receiver can send out. The new television system is particularly suitable for hotels or the like Centralized both normal television programming and a paid subscription television service can offer. Both signals are sent out over the cable, with the control center responding to the reception every single receiver or in every single room.
At each receiving point either the normal television signals, e.g. B. the channels that usually can be received with a VHF-UHF receiver, as well as the chargeable ones Signals can be selected that can be received on locally unused channels. A guest wishes To see a paid program in a hotel room, he prefers to express his wishes by telephone to the central office. A corresponding circuit is made at the control center so that the The guest's recipient can receive the paid program. In addition, the guest actuates a switch on its receiver so that it can receive the paid program. the Central sends successive authorization signals to the recipients who receive the chargeable May receive the program. The authorization signals are repeated so that the decoder at each Receiver only remains operational for a predetermined period of time if consecutive Authorization signals are received. In this way, the head office maintains control over the paid program.
Counters, the address devices, are provided both at the control center and at each receiver have so that each receiver receives an authorization signal a predetermined period of time after the start of the authorization signal cycle can receive by the counter start signal that is sent out by the control center.
To synchronize the counter start signal and the authorization signals sent by the control center and received at each television receiver, the clock signals are derived on site. The The clock signal from the control center is derived from the local network frequency and the clock signals are generated in the same way each receiver also derived from the network frequency of the receiver. B. in one Hotel the control center and all receivers with the same frequency and phase position of the local mains voltage, wherein the clock signals are synchronized both at the control center and at each receiver, which are the authorization signals control so that this synchronization is achieved with minimal equipment and costs.
As in Fig. 1, a control center 10 is connected to a plurality of reception stations 14 via a cable 12. Each reception point has a television receiver 16, a converter 18 and a decoder 20. One Mains AC voltage feed line 22 is with the control center 10 via a line 24 and with each Receiving point 14 connected via a line 26. As described above, this is a common one Feed line provided to the synchronizing clock signals for both the control center and for all Generate receiving points.
In the FIG. 2 is a data selector 30 over lines 32 with a Binary counter 34 connected. The data selector receives input via lines 36 from a memory 38. which is preferably a row of switches "can" a switch is provided for each room or reception point. Should therefore a certain Recipients receive a paid program, a switch is switched so that one of the The address indicating the receiving location is given in binary form on the lines 36 for input into the data selector will.
A detector 40 detecting the zero crossings generates a clock signal which has a frequency of 120 H? or twice the local mains frequency, which is assumed to be 60 Hz. The 120 Hz clock arrives at a AND-GIied 42, which also receives an input signal from a flip-flop 44. The flip-flop 44 receives a Input signal from a generator 46 for a counter start signal. The authorization cycle begins hence with a signal from the generator 46, which causes the flip-flop 44 to send a signal to an input of the AND element 42 to give it an output signal at the next pulse of the clock signal the binary counter 34 to start a counting process.
An overflow connection 48 is provided from the counter back to the flip-flop 44, which the flip-flop reset at the end of the authorization cycle.
Der Signalmodulator 52 gibt daher sowohlThe data selector 30 compares the input signal from the memory 38 with the input signal from Binary counter. There is a match between the two, indicating that the counter has the address of a has reached a certain receiving point. the data selector sends a control signal to the authorization pulse generator 50. The authorization pulse generator 50 in turn gives an authorization signal via the Command signal modulator 52 on the cable. It should be noted that the generator 46 for the Sends the counter start signal via the command signal modulator 52. The signal modulator 52 is therefore both
Authorization signals as well as counter start signals on the cable. Used to send out the counter start signal and the authorization signals use pulse phase modulation, there are 109 MHz and 111 MHz generators connected to the modulator 52 or incorporated in this in order to transmit signals of this frequency to the cable give.
As in Fig. 3, the converter-decoder has a cable-connected input 54 which is connected to a switch 56 which has a normal position and a position for the pay program. In the normal position, the signals received over the cable, e.g. B. conventional VHF and UHF channels, past the decoder and converter and go directly to the television receiver 16. If, on the other hand, the switch 56 is in the position for the paid program, the television signals are sent to the converter 18. The converter 18 can transform channels AD into channels 10-13 . However, this is only one example of one possible transformation that can be used. Advantageously, the chargeable television signals are converted into channels that are not currently being used at the respective receiving location.
The decoder has a command signal receiver 62 with a monostable multivibrator 64 and is connected to an AND element 66. A flip flop 68 receives an input signal from a detector 70 for the zero crossings, which, as already described, a 120 Hz clock signal generated. The detector 70 also outputs a clock signal to an AND gate 72. A Flip-flop 74 is connected between AND element 66 and AND element 72 and receives a reset signal by an AND element 76. A binary counter 78 is connected to an AND element 80 at its output. The output of the AND element 80 is in turn connected to an AND element 82 and the AND element 76. The output of the AND gate 82 is connected to a second monostable multivibrator 84, which in turn a switch-on signal to the converter 18 is.
During operation, a counter start signal starts the authorization cycle. Authorization signals are then issued during the various clock periods, which are controlled by the 120 Hz clock at the control center and the receiving stations. each authorization signal being sent out between successive clock pulses or during different clock periods. The counter start signal is sent by the command signal modulator 52 to each receiving point, where it is received as an input signal for the AND element 66. A second input signal for this AND element from the flip-flop 68, which is triggered by the command signal ifber the multivibrator 64, causes a signal at the output of the AND element € 6 for the FEp-flop 74, whose output signal together with the 120- Hz clock signal via the AND GSED Tl the counter 78 starts. The counter 78 thus starts at the same point in time as the counter 34 at the control center, which is started by the 120 Hz clock signal and a signal from the flip-flop 44 via the AND-Ged 42 . The payer start signal is longer than a second. The Und-GBed SB therefore gives an output signal to the flip-hop 74 only when a counter start signal has been received. Authorization signals have a duration of less than 1 millisecond and therefore do not cause an output signal at the AND element 66.
The memory 38, which, as described, can be a series of switches, specifies a binary address for the data selector 30 . If the address given by the binary counter 34 is the same as the address given by the memory 38, the pulse generator 50 generates an authorization signal. The authorization signal lies in a certain counting period which is controlled by the clock signal both at the central station and at each receiving point. The transmission of an authorization signal during a certain period therefore corresponds to a certain address which is indicated by the counter. The counter 78 at each receiving point runs synchronously with the counter 34. The counter 78 at each receiving point is connected to the AND element 80 so that an output signal from the AND element 80 is only emitted during the clock period which is intended as the authorization period for this Receiving point is specified. The AND element 80 in turn sends a signal to the AND element 82. An authorization signal causes the second input signal for the AND element 82, whereby the latter gives an output signal to the 1-minute multivibrator 84, which in turn switches the converter 18 on. With the output of the multivibrator 84, for. B. can be given to one or more of the converter stages supply voltage.
The output signal from the AND element 80 also switches off the counter 78 via the AND element 76. the Counter 78 counts the trailing edges of the clock pulses. The leading edge of the next pulse switches together with the output signal from the AND element 80, the AND element 76 becomes conductive, whereby the counter 78 switched off or reset.
einen oder mehrere Kabelkanäle mit gewöhnlich nicht benutzten Frequenzen auf eine Frequenz umformen, die von dem Fernsehgerät empfangen werden kann.convert one or more cable channels with frequencies that are not commonly used to a frequency that can be received by the TV.
Derartige Umformer gehören zum Stand der Technik.Such converters are state of the art.
AND element 66 can only become conductive if the counter start signal has a sufficient duration has. So are z. B. more than a millisecond is required for the multivibrator 64 to switch, its output signal the signal from the flip-flop 68 for the AND gate 66 to record the authorization cycle on each of the Receiver causes
The multivibrator 84 is after a predetermined period of time, e.g. B. one minute, automatically zurückge sets To keep the converter 18 ready for operation, repeated authorization signals are therefore required. If a ten-bit binary counter is used, 1023 receivers can be used in the system. At a 120 Hz clock speed, a full authorization cycle requires approximately 9 seconds. Of course, the new television is not limited to a 120 Hz cycle
Diese Maßnahme ermöglichi außerdem die Erzeugung von synchronisierender Taktsignalen mit wesentlich vermindertem CSertteanfThe important thing is that the clock signals from the dei Network frequency can be derived, whereby the synchronization between the center and all Etapfangsel ! en is produced. This measure enables in addition, the generation of synchronizing clock signals with a significantly reduced CSertte requirement
