Es ist bereits bekannt, an Geschossen aus Weichmetall zwecks Erhöhung der Verwundungsfähigkeit vorn einen harten Einsatzkörper vorzusehen, der beim Auftreffen des Geschosses in das Weichmetall hineingetrieben wird und dieses pilzartig auseinandertreibt. Ebenso sind auch schon Mantelgeschosse mit ähnlichen Einsatzkörpern bekannt geworden. Bei diesen aber war der Einsatzkörper vollständig von dem harten Geschoßmantel umschlossen, so daß nur beim Auftreffen auf verhältnismäßig widerstandsfähige Ziele ein Auftreiben der Geschoßspitze wirklich eintrat.
Zweck der Erfindung ist, ein Mantelgeschoß zu schaffen, bei welchem der Geschoßkörper selbst beim Eindringen in Körper von verhältnismäßig geringem Widerstand, z. B. das Fleisch von Tieren, zur Gestalt eines Pilzes umgebildet und unmittelbar darauf, besonders beim Auftreffen des Geschosses auf einen harten Körper, der harte Geschoßmantel zerrissen und zersprengt wird.It is already known to provide a hard insert body at the front of projectiles made of soft metal in order to increase the vulnerability, which insert is driven into the soft metal when the projectile hits and drives it apart like a mushroom. Um die Wirkung, durch welche der harte Metallmantel zerrissen wird, zu erhöhen und eine Zersprengung sowohl des weichen wie auch des harten Mantels herbeizuführen, kann hinter dem harten Aufschlagkörper im weichen Metallkörper ein Luftraum vorgesehen sein, wie er sich im wesentlichen in derselben Weise auch bei den oben als bekannt vorausgesetzten Geschossen mit hartem Einsatzkörper findet.
