Ein Teil des entfalteten Airbags 7 liegt so auf einem Rand der Windschutzscheibe 2, ein anderer Teil deckt einen Rand des daran anschließenden vorderen Kraftfahrzeugdachteils 6 ab. Zu seiner Entfaltung wird der Airbag 7, zum Beispiel durch einen nicht gezeichneten Gasgenerator, mit Gas gefüllt, wobei seine Volumenausdehnung bedingt, daß er durch die Öffnung 9 aus dem nach außen offenen Hohlraum 8 austretend, sich wie in Fig. 1 gezeichnet, um den Windschutzscheibenrahmen legt.
