Abstract

A rechargeable battery charge status determination procedure stimulates the battery with a step current change, detects the peak and rise rate, half width and decay characteristics of the resulting voltage pulse and compares with stored characteristics for the measured temperature. Independent claims are included for microprocessor based equipment using the procedure.
