Description
The invention relates to a warning system for an electrical energy store of a motor vehicle, in particular a propagation warning system, with a battery management system that has at least one first sensor for detecting a critical state of the energy store and at least one first evaluation device for outputting a warning message as a function of what is detected by the at least one first sensor Having data, and with a monitoring system independent of the battery management system, which has at least one second sensor for detecting a critical state of the energy store and at least one second evaluation device for outputting a warning message as a function of data recorded by the at least one second sensor.
The invention is based on the object of creating a warning system which ensures improved monitoring of the energy store and, in particular, also enables monitoring in the idle state or in the parked state of a motor vehicle without additional energy consumption.
The object on which the invention is based is achieved by a warning system having the features of claim 1. The warning system according to the invention has the advantage that the energy that is required to detect a critical state of the energy store is provided by the critical state of the energy store itself. As a result, additional energy sources can be dispensed with for the detection of the critical state and the state can thereby be determined at any time, in particular independently of the ignition state of the motor vehicle having the energy store. The warning system according to the invention is characterized in that the at least one second sensor is designed to convert energy released by the energy store when thermal propagation of the energy store occurs into an electrical signal for controlling the at least one second evaluation device. As a result, the energy of the energy store that has been released or released by the propagation is used to provide the signal for controlling or triggering the evaluation device itself. This means that external energy sources can be dispensed with and the second sensor works completely independently of the battery management system.
The second sensor is preferably a thermoelectric sensor, a piezoelectric sensor, a pyroelectric sensor, a bimetal switch or a photo element. When designed as a thermoelectric sensor, the Seebeck effect is used, whereby temperature differences in the thermoelectric material of the sensor are converted into an electrically usable signal voltage. For this purpose, the thermal sensor is arranged close to the energy store or on the energy store itself in order to convert the thermal energy released by the propagation of the energy store into the corresponding usable signal voltage. The piezoelectric sensor is used to convert a deformation of the energy store resulting from the thermal propagation of the energy store into an electrically usable signal voltage. For this purpose, the piezoelectric sensor is preferably arranged on the energy store in such a way that when propagation occurs and the energy store swells, it is subjected to a compressive force by which the signal voltage is generated piezoelectrically. The pyroelectric sensor uses the pyroelectric effect, through which temperature changes are converted into an electrically usable signal voltage. In particular, temperature changes are taken into account that lead to a sharp rise in temperature in a short time. If a high thermal energy was released during the propagation within a very short time, the use of the piezoelectric sensor is also advantageous. In the design as a bimetallic switch there is the advantage that the bimetallic switch, which is made of two interconnected strips of different materials, which is heated when heated expand to different degrees, deformed by an increase in temperature of the energy store, for example due to propagation and, for example, close or interrupt an electrical circuit through its deformation, whereby the electrical signal is generated. When designed as a photoelectric sensor, electromagnetic radiation in the form of light is converted into an electrically usable signal voltage. For this purpose, the sensor has, for example, a fluorescent reagent that remains separated by a separator until the separator melts due to the thermal energy of the energy storage device during propagation and thereby releases the reagent. The resulting light source is detected by the photosensor and the detected light is converted into an electrical voltage.
According to a preferred development of the invention, the warning system has a plurality of second sensors that are designed identically or differently. The electrical signals possibly generated by the sensors are preferably forwarded separately from one another to the same or different second output means. The presence of several second sensors enables a plausibility check of the critical state of the energy store detected by a sensor. In addition, the provision of different second sensors ensures that the second sensors react to different stimuli, so that, for example, a warning message is also output if the temperature exceeds a critical value, but a deformation of the energy store cannot (yet) be determined.
The at least one second evaluation device is particularly preferably connected to an energy supply for outputting the warning message, which is independent of an energy supply for the first output means. This ensures that the monitoring system as a whole is independent of the battery management system, also with regard to the energy supply. This ensures that a critical state of the energy store is reliably detected by the monitoring system if the battery management system fails.
Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the energy supply of the at least one second evaluation device has a supply energy store, a thermoelectric generator or a low-voltage electrical system of the motor vehicle. This advantageously ensures an independent energy supply for the second evaluation device.
Furthermore, it is preferably provided that at least one second evaluation device is assigned a switch-on circuit, by means of which the second evaluation device is only activated when the switch-on circuit is acted upon by the electrical signal converted by the second sensor. This ensures that energy from the additional energy supply is only used when a critical state has been detected by the respective second sensor. In this way, the energy consumption of the warning system is not increased by the monitoring system in the idle state.
Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the switch-on circuit has at least one bipolar transistor, MOSFET or an integrated circuit. This ensures a simple connection of the second evaluation device to the associated energy supply when a critical state of the energy store occurs.
The monitoring system particularly preferably has a communication device for transmitting the electrical signal from the respective second sensor to the at least second evaluation device, the communication device for wired signal transmission at least one electrical line or a CAN-BUS, for wireless transmission at least one radio module, a Bluetooth Has module, a WLAN module, or at least one optoelectronic communication module. The communication device thus enables wired or wireless signal transmission, whereby, for example, the signal is also advantageously evaluated, in particular overall, electrically isolated from the monitoring system and / or the battery management system.
The monitoring device particularly preferably has a control device, for example a plausibility check device, which is designed to compare the signals from a plurality of second sensors for plausibility check with one another or with a predetermined expected signal value. The plausibility check ensures that the warning message is only output by the second evaluation device when the energy store is actually in a critical state. For this purpose, the predefined expected signal value is set, for example, in such a way that it corresponds to a value that is to be expected when the energy store propagates. By comparing the signals from the multiple second sensors with one another, it is also possible to determine how high the probability of the actual occurrence of propagation of the energy store is, so that, for example, the second evaluation device is only activated when multiple of the second sensors have generated a corresponding signal.
According to a preferred development of the invention, the at least one first evaluation device and the at least one second evaluation device are connected to the same or different safety devices. If the evaluation device is connected to different security devices, a security measure is also carried out independently of one another, so that overall redundant propagation warning systems are formed. If the evaluation device is connected to the same or the same safety devices, costs and installation space can be saved. The safety device (s) are, in particular, warning devices which, when activated, generate, for example, an acoustic, visual or haptic warning signal, or intervention devices which, when activated, initiate a measure that further loads the energy store and / or the energy store prevent connected components. For example, the intervention device is a controllable disconnection device which disconnects the electrical connection between the energy store and components of the motor vehicle when it is activated.

This sudden release of energy is expressed in particular by a sharp rise in temperature of up to several 100 K, high internal short-circuit currents of more than 60 A, a sharp rise in pressure within the respective energy storage cell or within the energy storage unit due to increased gas development, the pressure rise in particular leading to a geometric expansion of the respective energy storage cell or the energy store as a whole, as well as a loss of the terminal voltage and the terminal current.
